Arizona Caravan to NALM '08

Join me on a roadtrip across the USA to Chattanooga. I'll either be taking off on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning from the Phoenix metro area, heading northbound to 40 and then all the way eastbound to Tennessee.

Total drive time is estimated at about 26 hours and just over 1,800 miles each way. It's going to be a blast. Depending on which day I choose to leave, I may pit-stop somewhere in the middle. Oklahoma City is just over halfway there.

This thread is merely to see what kind of interest the local folks have in joining the caravan and for proposing any other ideas in terms of routing or timeframe. Open to suggestions! Might be cool to have to California folks join us on 40 since it will most likely be the route they'd take as well.

Just as food for thought as you guys plan your route, the Midwest group MAY be able to hook up with you guys in Nashville?

tyson, i think you're on your own for this one.

talking to alot of people on the "west side" i think i have put the most thought into going, and i dont want to go unless i leave california with a crew, so to speak.

I'm still trying to pull NALM off...depends on whether or not I've started a new position at that point

^for that much in just gas, just buy a beater G1 and have your own meet. mileage for me round trip would be roughly 4,218 miles (i just punched my zip and the chat in TN.) if i didnt speed and averaged 25 MPG, it would be about 600 dollars in gas (including driving around TN and stuff at 3 bucks a gallon.)

Dates?

So when is this shin-dig going down? Me and the girlfriend love road trips and if this is in June sometime this may just be an awesome vacation for both of us.

EDIT:

so like a newb I didn't read all the fucking articles first.... anyways we'd be looking at starting out 7/2/08? I'm coming from Denver so I'd have to meet up with the caravan in New Mexico around Santa Rosa.... are there enough people to justify a meet up point? Or should I just bomb the freeways looking for a group 'o' legendz?

Depending upon your location in CO, you could also head down I-70 through St. Louis. There will be a few of us heading out of town early on Thursday. Take a look at the Midwest caravan thread for more info.

I looked at it but I think it would be better for me to join up with the AZ group. It's ~400 miles until I could meet up with them and ~1200 miles until I could meet up with ya'll in Louisville (I lived there for 5 years and it's awesome by the way, let me know if you want a good locals only restaurant suggestion ).

Alright SW folks, you have a deadline. The entire Midwest caravan will be converging in Nashville at 1 PM EST (12 PM CST). We'll roll out shortly thereafter and expect to hit Chattanooga in under 3 hours.

I'll post up in the Texas thread as well.

Exact location TBD.
