Arrow July 3-7, 2008: NALM in Chattanooga, TN!

The Fourth Annual NALM will be Held on the Fourth of July Weekend, 2008

Mark your calendars for the first weekend of July, 2008 because the best Fourth of July celebration you’ll ever be a part of is coming to Chattanooga, Tennessee! The Fourth Annual National Acura Legend Meet will bring together some of the country’s most dedicated Acura Legend enthusiasts for an action-packed weekend of camaraderie and cars.

After a poll and much internal discussion and debate, the NALM Committee and Chattanooga Ground Team have decided that the holiday weekend will provide the best opportunities for maximum attendance. The Friday holiday, coupled with the summer break from school for students, is a key driver for making this weekend the most reasonable choice.

We understand that the 4th of July weekend is a time when families get together and scheduling conflicts will inevitably arise for some individuals. The NALM Committee members, as well as those on local team involved in the planning activities, are making sacrifices to enable them to attend. The same will be expected of all dedicated enthusiasts who are truly motivated to meet and greet some of the individuals who make the Acura-Legend.com community what it is today.

With a full nine months+ of advance notice, we are confident that arrangements can – and should – be made to attend this event. The extended holiday weekend affords a critical extra day to those who might have difficulty with work commitments as well as those who will be traveling long distances to attend. Due to interest in a longer event, opening night activities will be held on Thursday night, followed by three full days of activities, and a final departing meeting on Monday morning for those who still haven’t gotten their fill!

The NALM Committee and Ground Team are already hard at work coordinating the weekend’s activities to make this the most successful Acura Legend meet in our nation’s history. Further details including a schedule of events, key destinations and activities will be posted well in advance of this special weekend.

Please take the time to block out your 4th of July weekend now for NALM in Chattanooga!

Sweet. Sounds good. This will be twice as far as my car has ever been from home under her own power (It once went to Disney World with us via Amtrak railways) and almost triple as far as I've ever personally taken her. I can't wait.

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once

Hmm.. I do have to say I do not like the idea of it being on the 4th of July weekend mainly due to the high incidents of traffic accidents resulting in death. I lost one of my friends around this time, due to a drunk driver. There are tons of families that make travel plans this weekend.
I really hope I can make it, and will be taking the date and timing into more consideration. But hopefully will find myself there one way or another.

If in attendance, I will be putting together a Houston/Texas caravan..Details will come sooner to the date

Cool awesome, I'm in

I'll be attending all five days, no question.

This is great because finals will be over.

It will take me just over an hour to get there.

I am in STL, so at a minimum, you and I can cruise together. There is at least one other STL guy (SeanC). Plus maybe we can get together with the folks up north (WI, MN, Chicago, etc.) Getting there via caravan is half the fun IMO.

sweet! although I too am not too thrilled with it being a holiday weekend, the fact that we are starting thursday night and ending monday morning gives better travel times.

Can't wait for more details.

As Tyson stated, we beat this one to death internally for the past three weeks and the 4th of July weekend really is the best all around choice, not to mention the far and away favorite in the public poll. All of the points that have been made in this thread, and many more were considered. I for one am rescheduling the 4th of July BBQ that we've had at our house every year for the past 14 years in order to make this work, and I'm OK with that. Many of the others in the planning committee have equally important commitments. I promise you those sacrifices will be worth it.

If you make the effort to attend, You will have had enough fun that You will be ready for '09 on your way home from '08.

EDIT: One more thing. There will be plenty of non Legend attractions nearby. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your significant others and enjoy the 4th of July festivities that Chattanooga has to offer, fireworks and all.

+1

There's a specific emptiness I feel every year the week after NALM. I'm all about trying to see some other Legends wherever possible for a couple months after as well.

Lookout Mountain
Chattanooga, TN - Wikipedia

Quote:
Tourist Attractions

Chattanooga touts its many tourist attractions, including the Tennessee Aquarium (a freshwater and, as of May 2005, a saltwater aquarium), caverns, and heavy development along and across the Tennessee River. In the downtown area are the Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn Hotel that is a renovated Train station with the largest HO model train layout in the United States, the Creative Discovery Museum (a hands-on children's museum dedicated to science, art, and music), an IMAX 3D Theatre, and the newly expanded Hunter Museum of American Art.The red-and-black painted "See Rock City" barns along highways in the Southeast are remnants of a now classic Americana tourism campaign to attract visitors to the Rock City tourist attraction in nearby Lookout Mountain, Georgia. The mountain is also home to Ruby Falls, Craven's House and the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway, a steep funicular railway which rises from historic St. Elmo to the top of the mountain to drop passengers off at the National Park Service's Point Park and The Battles for Chattanooga Museum (formerly known as Confederama), a quirky diorama that details the Battle of Chattanooga. From the military park, visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of Moccasin Bend and the Chattanooga skyline from the mountain's famous "point" or from vantage points along the well-designated trail system. Just outside Chattanooga, the Raccoon Mountain Reservoir, Raccoon Mountain Caverns and Reflection Riding Arboretum and Botanical Garden boast a number of outdoor and family fun opportunities, while the Ocoee River, host to a number of events from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, features rafting, kayaking, camping and hiking. Back in Chattanooga, smaller tourist attractions include Lake Winnepesaukah amusement park, Chattanooga Zoo at Warner Park, Bonny Oaks Arboretum, Cherokee Arboretum at Audubon Acres and Cherokee Trail Arboretum.
If we had gambling this would be the Vegas of the East.
