NALM '08 - Midwest Caravan
OK folks, this is shaping up to be the biggest and best NALM to date. Come be a part of it! It's that time of year again for us to start talking about who is going, and how you are getting there. For those of you who have participated in a long distance road trip before, you know how much fun this can be. For those rookies out there, I gotta tell you, this is one of my favorite parts of any meet. If you are on the fence about attending the best National Meet to date, frankly, you are nuts....
I kid.. I kid. Seriously though, consider this the first taunt to get you to attend.Just to get discussions started, here is the mapquest route from St. Louis to Chattanooga. ~ 7 hours / 450 miles Driving Directions from Saint Louis, MO to Chattanooga, TN ![]() This route is far from set in stone and can be altered any way we see fit. Anyone West of us can coordinate here as well to align our paths. Maybe the Chicago folks will want to meet up in Mt Vernon, IL? Maybe I change my path to include a stop in Louisville? We could connect with the Texas and Oklahoma group in Nashville... Who knows... Whatever we decide, this caravan needs to be rolling into Chattanooga by mid afternoon on Thursday, July 3rd. If I'm traveling alone, this means I'm leaving my house at 7 A.M. Thursday. I'll adjust this as the group grows and the route gets modified. We've been the biggest before, lets do it again! Here's an updated list of who will be part of our group: 1. Dave - Searchin4acoupe - St. Louis, MO 2. Alex - Alperovich - Chicago, IL 3. Sam - samblaze - Lakewood, OH 4. Gerry - go92Legend - Indianapolis, IN 5. Bobby - kclegend77 - Kansas City, MO 6. Jen - ymisoqt - Springfield, MO 7. Matt - TND-KA7 - Springfield, MO 8. ? 9. ? 10. ?

Alex, good work on funneling everyone through Louisville. I'll have to see if I want to leave earlier and meet you guys there, or head straight south to Nashville where it looks like we may be picking up the Texas crowd. 5 am isn't that big of a deal for me, but so far, John will be coming right through STL and that would push him a couple hours earlier as well. We'll nail all of that down later.

Depending on how many we pickup from South Texas, we may end up heading out 20 instead and will just "flank" you guys in Chattanooga. Time will tell though - so far it's just me and possibly Mike from Houston...

Alex,
I'll arrange a rendezvous point for the upper midwest caravan when you guys reach Indy and I join you. Likely have to drop the wife off in Nashville at her sister's, but am good to go from there.

cool. thanx for the help! lmk me know the details and i'll post them. I'll also post details for the ppl meeting in chicago.
Mike, if u can do the same for your legs of the caravan, it would help. I have to talk to steve (steve91ls) about NALM. it would be sweet if he came, I think i can arrange trailered transport for him, which we would have to account for during the caravan. |

Well, my wife and 11 yo daughter want to make this our vacation. Ya know sight seeing and all. Definatly, want to hit Louisville or wherever, and see the horses, my daughter LOVES horses. Then we want to see Graceland and then the Arch in ST. Louis, so I need to discuss the trip with the boss a little bit here!
Wife was thinkin leave early, and hit the Arch, then Memphis, then to GA. Then go thru Kentucky and see the tracks and horses on the way home. ![]()

Let me know John. I'm sitting about 6 blocks from the Arch right now... Also, if your daughter really likes horses, you should consider going to the Budweiser Brewery and/or Grant's Farm. Both places have stables with the Clydesdales. If you have never sen one up close, you'll be amazed at how huge they are.
