Dave; I didn't realize that it was so much further from where you live. It MapQuests out at 17 hours and 1000 miles from Tampa. You are almost twice that distance.....

Seems like a great way to know its going to be in a location most can get to every other year. AND - if you find you just had tooo much fun at the NALM you just went to, maybe you consider going over to the opposite coast to try a meet over there.
I can foresee a lot of people not going because its too far away every single year.
Oh I did have an outline to submit a bid, but since I was the only one I wasn't about to do it all myself. I've been doing this sort of thing for going on 12 years now, and I do understand it takes a lot to do.
So until we can go back and establish a East coast year, then switch to a West coast year, my banner of BULLSHIT still stands.
Dave there is really no need for that kind of attitude. In all honesty by having a bid submitted by people in every area there is an element of competition, thus creating a better meet for those attending.
BTW: Nalm started in texas, went to oklahoma, went to vegas, then chattanooga. That doesnt look like a definitive West coast/ East coast kind of thing. Not only that, its bound not to please everyone, but you could be more supportive. BTW: if you look on a map, it looks like the meet went close to central again, just like the first and second nationals.

Dave; Smokinfastlegend is correct. You just live up in a far away place. Could you move to a more Central Location?

no worries bro. ENJOY the meet and have enough fun for the both of us!
awesome, NALM 2009 should be fun. I hope i can make it, but there are so many unknowns at this point. The one thing i know is a 14 hours 50 min, 933 mile drive isnt going to be that fun.
and daveCFPrez, if the meet is to far for you to go, then stop posting in this thread. You are the only one bitching about the location. There has only been a NALM for 5 years, the method of choosing a location has changed almost every year. Because so many changes have happened, it might seem that the west coast is being left out, but it is not intentional. im sure most of the members here would like to see DV8's car and Mr.Keith's car, but a lot more goes into the decision than which member lives where.

I guess reading comprehension just isn't what it used to be. My problem is not with the location, but the "rules" that were given, and then thrown out the window, and various other problems which I have voiced, but choose not to repeat yet AGAIN.
Is there a reason why DV8 or Mr.Keith can't drive their cars over to the West coast? Nother against either of the two, but just asking since you made it a point in your reply.
I think you're misreading the previous post. He was showing a bit of sympathy for your cause, since IIRC MrKeith and Dv8 are both left coasters.
But y'know, reading comprehension not being what it used to be ...

congrats and Happy New year!
Sorry but... never heard of BRANSON, MO. Probably a perfect mellow town for my mellow Legend.
Woooaaa... 1650 miles and 24hrs from SoCali. Round trip will be more miles than I put in the Legend a year. Regardless, I'll keep an eye on this event.

Errrmmmm . . . not so much mellow! More like an activity- and attraction-based tourist trap. I would warn you against most of the dinner shows, unless you are prepared to holler "Yee-Haawwww!" at the tinsel-covered entertainers and spit yer chaw on the straw-covered floor.
Nonetheless, a very fun place, and some beautiful country!

Dave; You've answered your own question. If you want a "close by" NALM,
stop your bitching and put in an unbeatable bid for Washington State for 2010.....
daveCFPrez: Planning a meet remotely - without a ground team - is not something I or anyone else here wants to do. A meet will be close to you as soon as someone steps up and makes it happen. We've said it before, if you don't like how things are being handled, you are free to create your own event, call it whatever you like, and run it however you like. You seem to be a smart guy and I'd love to shake your hand one day... that said, I once again am failing to understand your disconnect.
Now, as you've stated, you are free to voice whatever you please - I agree and welcome it. However, please have some courtesy and start your own thread or take it up with one or all of us via PM. I'll even give you my email address if you like. Your rants are becoming an annual event and I'm sure I'm not the only one who can do without your rainstorm attitude in every upbeat thread we create.
Well played Ken. I agree that if driving is impractical, as a West Coast NALM would be for me (not saying I wouldn't do it, but it wouldn't be convenient), I'd fly in for one. Dave's issue with the submission/selection process.....I don't really have enough background knowledge to comment on it.
