Haha its more than that from Austin/ and Houston. Its 5-6 hours alone from Houston/west area where I am to get to Dallas, in addition with Houston traffic lol and construction.
Edit: for me its 7 hours, 15 minutes Total Est. Distance: 466.38 miles to Oklahoma City haha

geez Texas is big...ok that makes more sense
EDIT: Austin, TX to Oklahoma City is 388 miles, 6.6 hours....so I think you still oughta be open to driving more then that if need be I'd come to Dallas if it were there and AZ to Dallas = 1100 miles, 14.3 hours

Like I said in one of the other NALM '08 threads, I really don't care how far it is. I will be there. Whether it's only 4 or 5 hours in Nashville, TN or days of driving out west, I'll be there. But I would rather the meet be like 3 full days then, as I would rather not drive 10+ hours for only a day or two meet. Also, there might be more attendance if the meet is pushed to say, the last weekend in May or the first weekend in June. Less school and work conflicts then for some people.

^yea, having it in the summer months would probably be easier for the college/high school(are there any?) people. which im sure makes up a good percentage of everyone.
but like you said, 10 hours if its a one or 2 day thing. if it were a 3 or 4 day event, then i would consider a longer drive. |

Re-posted from the other threads....
I'd be willing to drive to any of the western states (CA, WA, OR, NV, ID, UT, AZ, NM) for a National/Regional meet, but further than that, I'd have to see on a case by case basis. Prefer a 2 (full day not including travel time) or 3 day meet format if I'm going to drive more than say 350 miles. |

rebuttal to the fact that nashville is far from everything and only nashvillians as close to nashville:
i checked quite a many of cities, including, but not limited to, ny, ok city, houston, miami, chicago, st louis, augusta(me), LA, phoenix, atlanta. the biggest distance is of course is LA (i didnt check washington), but theirs is a straight drive down I-40, but 28 hours away (a good 3-4 day drive alone), phoenix is 24 away, but again, straight down I-40. Houston posted in at ~11-12 hours while chi-town came in at 7 hours away. new york was ~14 hours (so a long day of driving, or split it up into a 10 hour and a 4 hour; start early day 2 and get the majority of the day at the event). with 2 huge cities ~1day +a few hours away, it is sure to pull the most people (as long as you can get people to commit). i understand that west attracted the most yet, but why give up on the central so early when this is only 3 or so years into this. also, atlanta is ~3-4 hours away from nashville, so right around the corner. these people would be the foundation of this meet if there arent people in tn that can make it. |

Nashville seems like a decent place to have the meet, fun little city.
I'd really love to have a track event at NALM '08, as I know I'd be down for it. And of course Brian and a few others, too. I'm not too familiar with TN though, so I don't know what they have in the way of tracks/road courses. I don't know if you'd see as big of a turnout in Nashville, though. I'm pretty sure atleast a few us ATL guys would deffinitely be down, but I can't speak for others. I don't know if the MetroLegends and some of Tri-State area guys would make it. Hopefully some of the FL guys would make it, too. I don't know, just thinking out loud. There's still a ton of time before NALM '08. And like I said, no matter where it is (minus California or somewhere extreme west coast), I'll be there. |
