Exactly! If he had stopped immediately the tire probably could have been saved. Larger rims require a lower profile tire. That lower profile has to distribute the cornering load over a smaller area of the bead than a stock wheel/tire combo.

It is still an impressive run. He was getting really close to those cones. That is the sign of skill on a SCCA auto X.
