Anyone ever read the count of monte cristo?

I mean read the book, not watched the movie. I have to read it before aug 10 and do some stupid character chart. I read the first 2 pages, and i was like and was gonna give up and tell the teacher to shove it, because this is summer vaction (keyword: vaction, and what do u do on a vaction? RELAX!) but i have to for my grade so im just wondering, if you read it, does it get any better? Thanks.

Oh man, that book is awesome once you get through the first part. Basicially, the beginning is probably the most boring thing you'll ever read. Towards the middle, the book just alla sudden gets awesome. Trust me, finish reading it. You won't regret it.

It's a damn good book. It's like 2000 pages but like I said, it's a damn good book. 160 year old page turner.

lol, i got one of the newer abridged versions- abridged by lowel bair or something, and its 400 some-od pages, but it seems like they tried to cram 800 pages into those 400. Im up to about page ten (im a slow reader) but its getting a little more interesting.

I read it maybe 25 years ago, so I don't remember anything about it. I do remember finishing it, so must have been pretty good; especially since it was something that I chose to read.

Graeme,
it was really been pretty good. Alexandre Dumas is one of my favorite. But sometimes hard to understand even in German The most well known book was 'The Three Musketiere' (sp?). -Mike
