A couple of pics of what I've been doing this summer v.wheeliepics
Our local crew found a new place this year that we could go to mess around on our bikes or quads. It's about a 1/4 mile long, flat, new pavement, and at the end of a dead end road. It's a place that we can go to play and not get in trouble with the cops.
I'm a few inches from hitting my balance point, but it doesn't feel right when I'm sitting back that far. ![]() Here I am, about to pull up a slow wheelie, I'm getting better at those. That high speed wheelie stuff is for kids. Did I mention that I'm on a 479 pound Suzuki TLR1000? ![]() Here's a picture of one half of the wheelie spot, it goes about that far the other way before you come up to any houses. Here is a pic facing the other direction. My buddy Joe setting it up on the front wheel. ![]() Silent Matt on his brand new Repsol 1000RR. ![]() Both of them together. ![]() Disclaimer: I AM NOT PROMOTING STUNTING ON THE STREET. If anybody is thinking of doing this, find a safe place to do it. The highway is not one of them.

It's a blast to ride. It just feels so stable at all speeds.

The best part about it is the fact that if you crash or loop the bike, you're not putting innocent people at risk. If I'm out there, and I'm watching these guys do wheelies, and I get hit by a sliding bike, I'll know that it was my fault for being out there. I know a lot of guys that do this type of thing on the highway, in traffic, and it's just too dangerous.

I've seen guys do it around my town.. especially near downtown showing off to people, all it would take is one yellow light, a cautious old lady who stops at yellow traffic light and an idiot doing a wheelie who needs that split second to stop but his front wheel is off the ground. Its good to see some people in this world have some common sence.

We probably have a good 15 hours of video footage that we're going to edit and use to make a DVD. We did it last year, but I didn't have a bike for most of the year, and I didn't get into it as much. I'll be posting up some video footage here in the next week or two.

Nice job, now get an older steel bike and tru doing the same thing. I have a 1979 KZ1000 Shaft Drive that I've been riding for three years now. I finally got the wheelies down pat on it! It's especially hard to do on it due to the fact that it weighs nearly 700lbs.

Exactly. I almost bought the last one at the local dealer. The retail price for the Repsol was only $800 more than the regular 1000RR.

Thats very similar to where I race people. Except my location is a bit longer, is a private road, and is 3x as wide.
Looks like fun, be careful I have seen too many people get owned trying to be fancy. |
