Do Land Rover Defenders not depreciate?

I remember seeing a 1994 Land Rover Defender 90 going for 24,000 about 4 to 5 years ago and I have checked eBay every once in a while and that price is still the same.

It is rare to see one in person. These things are extremely limited, but geeez. I really don't see the price for them going down in coming years. Amazing...

Haha, those are ugly as sin. Not to mention unaerodynamic and very rollover prone (with a center of gravity that high).

Of course it wouldn't be a Land Rover if it wasn't overpriced. It is amazing that it could sell that high with that many miles and six lousy pictures.

Yes, but just by looking at it, I think it's probably an offroad beast. Look at the ride height, the entry/exit angles, the wheelbase, etc. There must be something extremely compelling about these boxes-on-wheels that justifies their price... ?

True, but you could just get something intended for offroad - a Wrangler or something similar - and lift it, and you'd have something that would be cheaper, more reliable, and as capable - just not as rare.

I know why the price stays up. After that year they quit selling the open top version in the US. So all the opentops and 2 doors are pretty much set. They are great vehicles. Very good offroad and on road.
Later!

Matt... you don't want one of those things, and I'll tell you honestly - they're pieces of junk. I knew a kid that went to my highschool (yeah, VERY wealthy) that went through 3 (THREE!) of them, because they were such garbage that they didn't last. He was a little irresponsible, but not enough to destroy one of those trucks. If I were you (I know that Land Rovers/Range Rovers are your thing), I would avoid this brand at all costs - they're failure-prone, and you'll pay bigtime for parts/labor on any vehicle in the lineup...

If you want something cool, get a UniMog... you may have to look it up... but as far as offroading - a UniMog (Mercedes Benz) makes a Landrover, Jeep, Hummer, etc. look just plain stupid and laughable. Warning, this is a big truck, and you'll most likely have the reaction of "what's this thing - no way, I don't think so."

haha, my friend was a survivalist. Had the food bunker and enough weapons to take over a 3rd world country. Oh yeah, and he had a UniMog. What a BEAST.

A guy that I do landscaping for has one... it's seriously the meanest thing EVER. I'm thinking about trading my F-250 for it. It's got a boom crane on it, and 3 PTO/hydro outputs... simply bad!
