Matt,
here some useful infos about DVD. DVD once stands for Digital Video Disc or sometimes also for Digital Versatile Disc. DVD is the next generation of Optical Disc Storage Technology. DVD is essentially more bigger and much better like the standard CD audio type. The current available DVD formats (6 versions of recordable DVD-ROM) are: DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and DVD+R. DVD-R for Authoring / DVD-R for General Nearly all (99%) DVD recorders can read DVD-ROM discs, but each player using a different type of disc of recording. DVD-R and DVD+R can record data once, like CD-R. The DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW can be rewritten "x1000 times", like CD-RW. DVD-R uses a kind of organic dye technology, like CD-R, and is 100% compatible with most DVD drives and players. These discs are can record the datas "ONCE" DVD-RW (also known as DVD-R/W or DVD-ER) is a phase-change erasable format. These discs are "REWRITEABLE", means that these discs can be rewritten thousands times. Matt, which type of DVD are you plan to buy ? PC or HiFi device ? Hope that I could help anyhow. - Mike, Cologne |

I saw that from tigerdirect.com, they have the DVD-R Discs for 1.49 each. I'm not too concerned with rewriting things if they are that affordable(and with our economy that price can only go down I bet )Hey, I'm taking German right now. Ich heise Matt Wish me luck on my German Test tomorrow. Have you heard of the last name Stellenbacher? That is my teachers name. Thanks Mike.

In case that you read this message here TODAY: Ask me, what do you wanna know - I HELP YOU (no prob for me), Ok ? (Maybe you can teach me english in "Building the long sentences". Thatīs my prob here in english. I have no prob in my vocabulary, only the sentences and the times, like "Perfekt" "Past Perfect". I.e. "I had gone" ? Or "I gone" or "I went" u.s.w. (Hmm I hate it sometimes) "Stellenbacher" is a german name. Correction: You must write "heisse Matt" or "heiße Matt". What you write about "heise" is a name. Thatīs approx. the same like:"I call you" and "I cal you" (notice the letter "l" and "ll"). Show your teacher this here... Trust me: Itīs not negative, but I wrote here, that the german grammatik is too complex. He should consider it in his german lesson and especially in his teaching of them! Good luck for your test tomorrow and best regards to Mr. Stellenbacher. - Mike |

Mike-
I also used to speak German - 4 years of it... but I'm not too fluent anymore... but here's a question: Do they still make use of the S-Set, or B, on a regular basis... as in heiBe, instead of heisse or heise...? I noticed that you had corrected Matt on that, and I heard that they were doing away with that a while ago, and moving onto a Neue Deutsch...? Ah, ich habe der Deuctch in drei Jahren nicht gesprechen... or is it Ah, ich habe das Deutch in drei Jahren gespricht nicht... or could it be Ah, ich habe das Deutch in drei Jahren nicht gesprachten... (I'm sorry for ruining your language... I haven't conjugated in a long, long time...) Er, sie, es den, desser, des... I can't remember...

But I see, you have the same prob like me in English. I mean here the tenses about "Present/Perfect and Past Perfect". Oh god, I wish I paid more attention in my English class (that sucks anyhow). Quote:
Example: We learned in our school to write "Delphin" {means "dolphin"}. Today the kids learning to write this as "Delfin". But I will write again as "Delphin". You can write {street} as "Strasse" or "Straße". Thatīs absolute the same. But you cannot write "Strase". Thatīs an unknown expression and has no contents of it. You can believe me, that I like it much better to write in english as in German. Our language is sometimes so complex in his grammar and structures, thatīs horrible. Really !!! Quote:
Or you can say: "Seit 3 Jahren habe ich kein Deutsch mehr gesprochen" My english would be: "Since three years, I havenīt spoken german." Quote:
My english would be: "Ah, I havenīt spoken German since three years" Quote:
Quote:
That means: "Me (I), You, He, She, It, We, You, They Maybe you can help me (without the tenses). I have sometimes the problem about "Been" and "Being". Could you explain me the correct term of that ? Quote:

Mike-
You're right about the past tense/present tense of words/sentences... (Oh, SORRY MATT for jacking your thread! I didn't mean to!) But, sometimes you'd want to say: I have BEEN going to the Legend Meets every month. or I had BEEN going to the Legend Meets every month. or I have gone to the Legend Meets every month, but them BEING scheduled at night makes it hard to attend. (The difference being that BEEN can be applied to a past tense, such as "I have been, I had been" but BEING is mostly applied (in the way that I talk) as a verb - "They are BEING difficult to work with" or "They are BEING the most annoying people" It's really hard to distinguish BEEN and BEING, but I'm sure that you are aware that one is PAST, and one is PRESENT I am BEING I have BEEN I HAD BEEN There ya go... BTW - How is the weather in Deutschland this time of year?

Hi Chris,
many thankX for you info. Man, thatīs very difficult and also to understand it. Puuuh, in this moment, I understand only "Railway Station" {a german expression}, that means "Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof". But if I have a bit more time, I will try it to understand. The weather here in Germany ? Since two weeks, the snowing had now stopped here, but itīs a bit cold here (damned weather). Many many thankX for for help, Chris !!! Attn to Matt : What about your German test in your school today ? Tell me. Iīd like to know and the result of you test, ok ? - Mike |

When the conversation was formal, I forgot to address the person I was talking to by first and last name. I think that was about it.

Get a Cendyne or Pioneer one. DVD-R is cheaper than DVD+R and DVD-R is more compatible with dvd players than DVD+R are. I have a DVD-R Cendyne and I love it.
