"Get ready for the carphone check in!!"
a phrase used by a DC radio station for people to call in from their carphones to give shout outs.
however, this Carphone Check in is for those Legend owners who have a Legend equipped with the factory cell phone. I have YET to see a Legend with this installed and am VERY interested in seeing pics. if you have one please post pics! thanks. |

I have the factory cell phone, and it works. A few members have seen it in action at our meets. I will take some pics tomorrow.

Years ago, I used to use Airtouch. After that, I switched to Verizon. It was expensive ($25 a month, for only 60 minutes). They only offered one plan at the time, since they are phasing out analog (and want users to go digital). Note that a few major carriers still offer analog, but it is never advertised. It is usually offered in major cities with one plan option.
Last year, I stopped using that carrier, since I have a digital phone from work that I use for free. I can still use my OEM analog car phone to dial 911, and if I use a credit card. The phone works great, and the sound quality/signal strength is excellent. It works in areas that my digital phone doesn't.

I had the setup for it in my car, like the microphone, but I never used it and eventually got it taken out

The first thing I did when I got my Legend (Used) was rip out the OEM cell phone. The handset is installed in the center console so it just took up space. I also tore out the OEM cell phone in the NSX. I hear that even if you don't have service the 911 service will still work though since they past some law about that. I'm not sure though.

My 93LS has the phone installed, and is functional, however as mentioned earlier in the thread, to activate a plan is expensive compared to digital.
We need an aftermarket bluetooth installation like the new 04TL and 05RL have. ![]()
