got arrested

yup, finally happened, I got caught doing something stupid (going 100 in a 55). Before you jump ALL over me, it was night, a wide road in the back roads of Maine, with no one else around (except for the damn cop), and I decided to open up and see how fast I could go (on a straight away).

Well the 50 caught me at 100, and cuffed me and took me into the police station. My rents had to come bail me out, they were not happy about that at all.

Also got charged with possesion of a usable amount of mj (which isn't a criminal charge, just a civil, so thats just fines, no biggie).

I hired a lawyer who will represent me at my first court date (i'm gonna be in school).

Other than that, any advice on how to get the lowest fine possible out of this thing?

And I don't need to be told to slow down again, everyone and their grandmother has already told me that, and I really have slowed down.

how many tickets have you had in the past? if it's not too many (like one) you could try to plea it down to a non-moving violation

if you've got a good lawyer it's possible.

oh yeah, sometimes if you agree to attend a driving school (which costs additional money) they'll do it.

Dude,

Without meaning to be rude, how can possession of mj be a civil charge - who was wronged??? Do u mean a misdemeanour??

I got arrested a while back for DUI. Get a good lawyer who will pleas bargain your case for a lesser fine. I got mine knocked from an APC ( same as DUI) to public intox - and then I had to do lots of community service and all that fun stuff.

Plea bargain will work.

Peace

Jonny

the possession charge is a violation, $100 fine at the most. don't stress it, its like a moving violation, nothing. you'll get 8 points on your liscence for the speed. i don't know how CT laws work, but since its out of state those points won't affect your liscence in CT. (thats howe NY works). you'll have to take a defensive drivers course and a fine will be slapped.

I don't know who was wrong, but on my citation thing, it says that the mj charge is a civil violation, and thats what all the cops and the bail officer told me.

As for the other ****, hopefully everything works out that well,I really hope that it does, cause ****, it would suck a lot if my license got taken away.

I hate to say it but they think that it is going to save lives or something. I wish they wouldnt charge so much to go test your stuff out at a track the right way. I would love to take my legend out around a large oval track that is used for nascar and stuff. I would probably spin out though and hit the wall. I would need special tires and suspension. Hope your court goes well.

Sorry, I was ranting.

I just dont think it's fair.
Especially when people get caught in momentary mental lapses.

You go, Jose. I am SO sick of these Barney Fife MF'ers around here. Goddamn granny in a Cadillac can drive 25 in a 55, never give a signal and be a general threat to everybody within a mile radius but let a kid have a kit and nice wheels and he (or she) is toast. Effin' profiling corksoakers...

There. I feel better now.
