Honda Dealer wants to charge $38 for Legend oil change

So I work in downtown baltimore right near Anderson Honda...
I decided I would try them out..so i took the legend there for an oil change. I found a coupon online for 21.99 that said its only valid with hondas..but I called in advance and got permission to use the coupon for the acura.

So I go to pick up the car the lady says..."this time we will let you use the coupon but normally your oil change will cost 38dollars. we thought it had a 4cly like the 89 accords have which is why we said you could use the coupon." ..she then goes on to say...but it has a 2.7 V6 so its way more expensive to do..its just like a passport...
then she says I could get it cheaper but i need to bring my own oil filter from acura....or any autostore

they are so messed up...I normally go to Northwest Honda in Owings Mill area and never had any problem...plus they wash the car and vacuum...which they don't do at Anderson...

whats the deal.........is she just crazy or what??

Thanks.

Check with your local Acura dealer to see if they have any oil change specials. I got 16 oil changes for the next 4 years for $100 at Acura. You do the math.

Guys, whats the problem with just changing the oil yourself? I have never and will never let any other human besides myself touch that drain plug to the oil, other people just do not have the respect for your car other than yourself. Quart of oil=$0.99, filter=$8, total for personal oil change=$14 every time.

who uses recycled oil?? I never heard of that!!! That's crazy man!!

Hey MarriedMike, I had 2 brand spanking new Nissans in the past (1995 200SX SE and 1997.5 Altima SE, jeez, I like SE's I guess ) and besides the fact that 200SX was worse than any used car I had, I was in total shock about the way Nissan dealers treated me. They even jacked up the pass side of my 200SX which had like 200 miles on it (yep, the probs started that early) and they parked it right along a wall so I could not see it when I picked it up. It looked like the mechanics roll-around tipped over on the side of the car every dealer sucked, and, nobody could fix that car. Later, I bought a Max, it developed all kinds of probs, and once again the Nissan dealers continued to live up to there reputation.

Type II = Where can you get Mobil1 so cheap? I didn't know that they also made a oil filter! Any benifits compared to the K&N or Fram?

Sneeky = I have owned 3 Maximas since the late '80s. All of them lived to 250k min. with only oil, tires, brakes, and visits to the body shop after wrecks. My last Maxima drove all the way from Tuscaloosa, AL to the ATL with no oil. I had the engine torn down after, and the dealer, yes I trust Nissan, was amazed. They were convinced I had replaced the engine in the car, due to the odometer reading, and that it had not been driven with no oil. This says something to me about their quality. If Nissan hadn't followed Daewoo in their styling I would have another Max, but now I am going to get a '99 SE and have a little fun with her.
Later!

Sleeper, I have had the worst luck with Nissans. Please don't tell me how great they are!! It gives me bitter beer face when someone says how great Nissans are. I sold my 1995 Nissan 200SX to a lady. She called me later and asked "what did you do to this car?" I said what do you mean? She said " I am having nothing but trouble with it" I told her that Nissans are junk, and she immediately snapped back and told me Honda's are junk, her last car was a Honda and she hated them. I said, that's funny, you got rid of a Honda to buy a Nissan, and I got rid of a Nissan to buy a Honda. Funny how everyone has a different experience.
Of the Nissans I have owned, I had a 1985 300ZX, 1987 300ZX and a 1987 200SX SE V6. Those were super good cars aside from the constant overheating. The VG30E seems to be a good motor. And My 97 Altima never gave me trouble. But my 92 Stanza, my brand new 95 200SX SE were terrible. And all my VG30E cars overheated in the summer. So, I have owned 6 Nissans, and only one was a good car. In fact, the Altima was a great car. I have owned about 8 Hondas, and not even one did me wrong. EVER.
We just have totally different experiences.

Actually I ussually hit Northwest Honda on Reistertown Rd...You know.."The Golden Rules Dealership". They charge 23.99 plus you get a wash...
But I will be taking the Maxima to either Norris Nissan or Security Nissan. (apparantly Len Stoler/nationwide suck)

I got a new job on the outskirts of Downtown...right near the Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus. I live in Pikesville but used to work in Rockville...glad that commute is over..!!!
