Can someone explain to me the relationship between HP and torque? How much torque does the Legend have? I used to put more emphasis on HP but I am starting to think that torque is more important. What is the more important spec? HP or Torque?

HP is derived from torque (someone insert mathematical equation here). Legend...or G2 legends have 210 for Type 1, and 206 for type 2. I can't explain in detail which is better...I think it depends on the application. I have always understood it as torque pushes you back in your seat and is low end, and hp is near redline....but I am sure someone can explain it much more eloquently than that....

My understanding of torque and horsepower is that torque is what gets the car moving, or the ability to pull. Which would be the reason that trucks have a lot of torque versus HP. Trucks need a lot of low end power to pull there heavy loads, especially from a dead start. Horsepower comes into effect at higher speeds, or measure the ability of the engine to spin faster which allows the car to go faster, as a result a higher top end speed. The effects of torque would be felt if you accerlate from a dead stop were as HP would be felt if you are on the highway and decided to pass someone up. Hope that helps.

Torgue is a measure of force and HP is the rate at which it is applied.
