I don't know, it hasn't rain in a long time here in the Bay Area, and we usually get a lot of rain, but this year was just cloudy, foggy, or mostly sunny. I blame the vegetarians .

We got a shitload of snow here at the resorts last year. That's what everybody here was whining about with this global warming crap and it never happened. I kept telling all the skiiers that they were crazy to listen to that Al Gore crap and they looked at me like I was crazy. Idiots.
My Gramps told me that in the 70's everybody was worried about global cooling and that a new ice age will happen.

That's the thing people don't realize. These things are sensationalized in order to control people on a worldwide scale.
BUSINESSMAN07 - the attitude that the ends justify the means is rampant in Washington but it only perpetuates the lies. That people have gotten "reasonable" about it and let it pass without punishment is a major reason for much of the corruption we see in government.
The trendy term nowadays is "global climate change." C'mon guys, global warming is so 2006.
A very interesting (but yes, science fiction) book that addresses this is State of Fear by Michael Crichton. Without going too much into it, it's about: fanatical environmentalists, the role of sensationalist media, terrorism, and very cool heavy equipment.

As an architect, I know the impact urbanization has on the atmosphere in a compact location...
As an auto enthusiast I know am aware of the impact the emissions from exhausts have on the atmosphere.
For one, The reason all of the buildings are one of the main reasons it's always at least 8-10 degrees warmer in cities than in rural areas. The more urbanized cities that pop up, the warmer those areas get.
About emissions, there are well over 1 billion cars on the road. Not all of them are brand new ULEV specified vehicles hell I'd bet less than half are. CO2 is a green house gas emitted by EVERY fossil Fuel burning vehicle on the planet...if well over 1 billion cars is spewing this chemical into the air faster than the earth and the vegetation can absorb it, it'll sit up in the air until it can get absorbed. While it's sitting there It's trapping heat waves.
It's not an environmentalist scare, it's not something people are drumming up to get more green without reason...

People talk of solar activity, and other such tomfoolery, and how it's cold this day and warm that day. the fact is, we live in a mild environment here, The ice shelves are disappearing everywhere.the ice thickness reduced and rebounded several times in the last 6 decades, but it's never been as low as it has in the last 10. and has not recovered. average temperatures in the colder regions are becoming more mild (the effect of global warming).
I'd much rather we did something about it NOW than wait for every one of the Environmental Scientists to be proven right and we have to pull some TRIGUN maneuver just to save our civilization.
By using the extreme low number to artificially reduce the significance of global climate change Yea you can manipulate the data to make it say what you want it to say.
from the link you posted...
there's clearly an up trend in the median temperature. follow from left to right ignoring all peaks and valleys as single snap shots are not enough to produce any large change.

i read "state of fear" by michael crichton and the argument in that book is the "urban heat affect". great author btw, i've read just about everything he's written.
anyways, the urban heat affect does play a role however, tell me over the last 10 years that you haven't witnessed a difference in the climate? forget about the figures, have you noticed any changes?
i live in south florida and i can tell you that i sure as hell have. this past winter for example was the warmest and shortest i've ever seen. i had to wear long pants maybe three, possibly four days.
i don't know why anyone would want to argue this anyways. the proof is there, you know pollution is bad, so what's the point?

That maybe so, but this has been a really cool winter in GA. We had snow twice in one year, which supposedly hasnt happened in like 5 years, and for it to snow, it has to be cold.
