Im Moving To Germany!

thats right! as most of u know, im in technical school for the Air Force, learning mechanics. well i just got my assignment the other day and im getting deployed for 24 months over to ramstine(sp) germany! and i gotta couple questions about it. first off, i was thinking of bringing my car over there, its getting shipped by the usaf. but after it gets there i was thinking of fixing it up, (paint, leather, wheels ect ect) and selling it. now if i were to sell it do yall think i could get more or less money for it over there then in the states? also i was tinking after i sell it, of buying an audi or a bmw, being a mechanic i could do repairs on it my self and get parts cheeper cuz im in germany. but i was thinking of getting an audi a6 2004. so i wouldnt really have to worry about maintenance for a while. and then after my two years in germany are over, i come home and buy another legend. or something close. gimmie sum advice yall
thanks
drew

When you get over there look up a guy named John Haines. He just flew over there a month ago to repair helicopters. I say keep the legend and make a few vids of you on the autobahn. But seriously, you never know when you'll get shipped off to Iraq so I wouldn't change anything dramatic in your life such as buying another car.

Wow, thats crazy, my only advice is to keep your Legend. Then again, it depends on how long you are staying there, if you are staying for a good big while, then do what you have planned, but if you are only going to stay for a year or something close then just keep your legend and have fun wherever you are going. just my thoughts...have a good time and good luck man.

A friend of mine lived in Rammstein whilst in school and said it was a nice city. Hope you enjoy your stay.

Ramstein is a huge Air Force base. I used to visit there all the time when I lived in Germany. Beautiful country ~ I will go back and visit one day.

Now about your car. If you plan on selling it, sell it HERE in the U.S. before you go. If you sell it in Germany (many soldiers overseas sell their cars) you will get next to NOTHING for it. People are selling their cars ALL THE TIME because they are moving from base to base and have no need/time/effort to bring old cars with them. My dad used to pick up cars for just a few hundred dollars *mebbe a few thousand for a late-model car* then sell them off for profit after driving them a month or two.

If you sell you Legend there, I doubt it would go for much more than $2000 at most ~ that's just how it is. However, if I were in your shoes I'd love a chance to try the Legend on the autobahn; where it was MEANT to drive.

If you buy a german car, it will be MUCH cheaper there. It is common for servicemen to buy a german car there and then bring it back to the United States after their tour. However, the car must be bought in U.S. spec, although there are a few Europe-only things on a car that can still be brought over (you'd have to check to be sure).

Good luck with your PCS man. Germany is a wonderful place and you'll have much to appreciate there.
