Kev, you and Mike are Americans at heart. You just weren't born here, that's all.

One thing to say:

I know, that in every country there are ups and downs and everywhere you have to work, and none of them is the country of milk and honey. But in comparision the kind of living and especially the kind of how you can work yourself out in the relevant circumstances, there are in fact recognizable differences. So I know that even the USA have downsides, I can much more identificate with those downsides than with the downsides in Germany. You might think it's- stupid, but I feel like supposed to be an American. Same thing like sexuality, one day a man comes out to be gay, I myself outed as an American. (I'm not kidding, I'm totally serious when talking about that)

...sorry got to go, a delivery is coming... more soon

See I envy you guys. After living in the oldest state in the country all my life I'd rather live in a different country. :p I am not saying you're anything but right when it comes to your desire to live here, but I do have to tell you that every person I know that lived in the U.S. for a few decades and then moved to Germany actually liked Germany better. I guess it all depends on the person. Above all I think its the desire for something new.

I say you guys move over here if you lose reason to be in Germany, but I wouldn't close all ties until you've been over here and had to avoid dark alleyways and car thefts.

Thumbs down Germany... Why I Hate It

Tom, our taxes are basically value added taxes, aka sales tax. The value added tax paid by all private final customers. Here are all type of taxes we have to pay (except several), like...

Einkommenssteuer: Income Tax. Means that what you get (earn) mothly we have to pay the almost the half. I get 2500€ br ./. 1200 Tax !
Vermögenssteuer: Wealth Tax (only for owners of houses, companies...)
Gewinn & Kapitalsteuer: Profit and Pincipal Taxes (? %)
Kirchensteuer: Church Tax (3 %). I must pay 26 €
Grundstücksgewinnsteuer: Property Pofits Tax (only for owners of houses, companies...) (? %)
Erbschaftssteuer: Inheritance Tax (35%)
Verrechnungssteuer: Accounting Tax (5%)
Liegenschaftssteuer: Real Estate Property Tax (only for owners of houses, companies...) (? %)
Personal, Haushaltssteuer: Personal, Household Tax (10%)
Zollsteuer: Customs Clearance Tax (10%)
Tabaksteuer: Tobacco Tax (70%)
Biersteuer: Beer Tax (5%)
Mineralölsteuer: Oil Tax (50%)
Beninsteuer: Gas Tax (70%)
Automobilsteuer: Car Tax (5%)
Spirituosensteuer: Liquor Tax (8%)
Motorfahrzeugssteuer: Motor Vehicle Tax (Extreme high !!! Depending of the liter capacity, like 3.2l. The higher the more we have to pay)
Hundesteuer: Dog Tax (5%)
Vergnügungssteuer: Entertainment Tax (10%)
Reklamesteuer: Advertisement Tax (only for business) (? %)
Lottosteuer: Lotto Tax (If the winner win, then he have to pay 20% of his profit)

Please don´t forget that: Every one have to pay the taxes !!! And all taxes get the f.cking goverment!!!

So please never ask me what I have of netto remaining amount for me to the end of every month! We have to hard work of our bucks here ! Our goverment becomes always enrich and enrich. He throw out our bucks for such insane things like to support more foreigner who are jobless and get money for nothing. Due to that more and more foreigner are coming to Germany the result is, that germany burst out. Since 1989 the wall between east and east Germany has been fallen (you remember that the US president R. Regean was in Berlin at that time?). He got it to create his great thought and realized that dream for so many peoples in east Germany. But no one thought at that time: It was the greatest mistake for us all here. No no, it was not the debt of Mr. Regean. Our politician were guilty !!! They spends so much bucks into the reconstruction of east Germany. And til today (since 10 years) every German has to pay a fraction part (small amount of 10€) every month. It´s called 'Social Contributions'. Everyone say, that the wall should be rebuild immediately. The new wall has to rebuild higher than the old one, much highter. It sounds terrible but that´s the truth.

Now you can understand why we all are here kinda f.cked up here, why we all have no jobs here (almost 7% of 80 millions), why we all are so annoyed about our beloved bro's in east Germany . They have broked our neck. That´s not Germany - it´s the f.ucking Germany. On almost every week we hear or read, that this and this is more expensive. Our gas is soo expensive here. It varies from day to day, like a nightmare.
Now you know why I hate that land and why I hate the f.ucking politicians, esp the f.ucking chancellor. No one is able to lead that in a right way, a way where we all are can live kinda satisfied. But perhaps it´s only possible in the USA !

Just wanted to vent and to tell you the truth. The truth about the F.UCKING DAMN GERMANY! I hope you can understand me why I feel (and Kevin too) sometimes really bad. -Mike

Ryan, the problem is that you are one state over from DaveC and you get grump vibes from him. You know those are transmitted across state lines, don't you?
