THIS POST IS FOR ALL LEGEND OWNERS: G1, G2, G3, ETC...
I figured out a better way to do this: Let's make a Legumentary of Legend die-hards, stories, pictures, blogs, etc... There are a few qualifications to post on this thread: 1. You must have driven a combined total exceeding one hundred thousand miles (100,000mi) across any of your OR your families Legend(s) --OR-- 2. You OR your family must have owned any combination of Legend(s) for over five (5) years --OR-- 3. You OR your family must have completed HEAVY modifications (eg. retrofits, major body work, anything unique, etc...) --OR-- 4. You OR your family must have a CRAZY unique story that really showcases your Legend enthusiasm I am hoping to weed out the generic car-buying, Legend-driving stories; which is why--if you don't quite fit any of the qualifications, but you've got a special story, go ahead and let us know by posting! The qualifications are certainly not make-or-break. I just had to establish baselines because it was easier than praying ![]() Everyone please make sure to post at least: 1. the number of years you or your family have owned your Legend(s) combined, and a tidbit about each of them 2. the number of miles driven (approximate) 3. one interesting, unique or funny story about your or your families experience I'm going to sort (or not sort) a list of everybody too. We can vote on some silly algorithm later (or not), but there is nothing competitive about this thread; it's just for fun, even though I think Tyson is probably the most die-hard Legend fan. LegendGS must be up there too with his collection, and Diaz with something like ten (10) Legends over time? If we receive enough quality stories and media, I was hoping this thread could be compiled in a Legend cocktail book, or something similar. What do all of you think? This should be FUN and INTERESTING! Please, let's please keep it that way! Stories Posted Herein: 1. LegendGS 2. MikeDiaz 3. mr.keith 4. 4cruizn 5. sam_o_nela 6. antik 7. kotetu 8. b+o 9. Smokinfastlegend 10. 91lsman 11. legendgs 12. johnny kim 13. go92Legend 14. 15. 16. 17. 18. 19. 20. k.

I'll take the easy way out and go first with my lame story:
1. G1 coupe (had for ~7 years) G2 coupe (had for ~4 years) = ~11 years - 2 overlap 2. ~100k on a G1 coupe, ~55k on a G2 3. Lame, but true, story: my mother noticed my first G1 coupe in a used sales lot and took me to go see it. We walked out with the car.

Did somebody say my name?
![]() I have owned the following Legends: 1986 Legend base sedan 5-speed (6 months) drove 8k miles, had 229k on it 1988 Legend L sedan 5-speed (3 months) drove 2k miles, had 150k on it <-- was a gift from my uncle 1991 Legend L coupe 5-speed (3 months) drove 4k miles, had 186k on it 1994 Legend GS sedan automatic (1 day) never drove it, had it towed, took the wheels and trashed the rest 1994 Legend LS coupe 6-speed (45 months) have driven 167k miles, has 262k on it I still can't compete with Gerry (go92Legend) who has >200k and they're all his miles. Fun fact: I have driven the 1994 through 25 U.S. states and two foreign countries. It has also gotten me through three universities and an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degree. Maybe it's time for an upgrade? The '86: ![]() The '91 and '94 together (this was a very short-lived relationship): ![]() The '91 ![]() The '94 ![]() Does that count, Keith? Technically mine don't quite add up to 5 years, but if you count all the times I borrowed my mom's 1993 L sedan for dates and such, it probably closes the gap .Last edited by 4cruizn : 12-16-06 at 11:25 AM. |

I dont know if this counts BUT:
Legends have been in my family since about '92... 87 Base Auto Sedan 1992-2000-- My moms and it went till about 250k before 3rd auto tranny gave out; she replaced it with..................a Ford Explorer 94 LS Sedan 2002-???-- Mom bought this because the Explorer sucked on gas (for some reason it took her 2 years to figure that out ) and this was her car till this year when it was handed down to my sister. Bought with about 120,000 miles...now at about 160,000... 87 L 5-Speed Sedan 1992-2002 -- Stepdad's daily driver after he sold his 82 Supra...bought with about 80,000 miles on the clock and eventually sold her to me with well over 225,000 after he bought his 97 TL, which he still owns to this day 87 L 5-Speed Sedan 2002-???-- Mine since 2002...bought her with a little more than 225,000 miles...I had been around Legends for as long as I could remember and always wanted a 5-speed G1 Sedan...besides the G2 was a LITTLE out of my price range back then hahahaha...it was my fourth car overall (Datsun pickup, BMW E28 733, and 82 Jag XJ6 before). Also, might I add, MUCH easier to work on than the German and better electricals than the Brit ![]() I will always remember: I had just paid off my Legend and drove her 16 straight hours from So Cal to near Four Corners in New Mexico...900 miles round trip, left with 233k returned with 235k . She ran like a champ and never missed a step!!I also think its funny that for most of the 90's my parents had matching cars ![]() |

I'm going to chime in on behalf of my family - I've only techncially owned a Legend for a little over a year now but I have been the daily driver of 2 different legends personally for more than 6 years and 100k miles. Both my mom and dad also qualify.
The cars: 1992 Seatle Silver L Sedan 1995 Canterbury Green L Sedan 1995 Cashemere Silver Coupe The '92 was originally bought for my mom around the holiday season in '94. In 97 or 98, Dad purchased the '95 Sedan as a surpise for her. At that point, he then sidelined the van he drove and drove the '92. Shortly after I turned 16, he found (after 6 months of searching) his coupe. The '92 was passed to me and the van which I'd been driving was sold to my aunt. Dad still drives the coupe, but when the '92 died of a BHG, mom sacrificed the Canterbury Green car and gave it to me, adopting instead another van as my parents again needed the cargo capacity. I drove the '92 ~50k miles before it died. I'm working on ~70k on the '95k. I have plenty of great stories about these Legends as they've been in the family so long and it was literally the first car I drove and I've been driving them since. My unfortunate story involves being caught doing 99 mph in the '92 (speedometer registered 92) and getting my license taken away (but avoiding jail time) for 6 months for the stupidity. Perhaps the most exciting memory was the purchase of the 95 sedan. Dad and I went to the dealer to browse just to kill time - he was thinking of buying mom a Canterbury Green Legend a year later because he knew it was her favorite color; she commented on our neighbor's every time she saw it. Sure enough, upon arriving at the dealer, there was an immaculate example on lot. It'd been traded in the night before by an elderly couple who bought an RL. The look of shock on mom's face just a few days later, when we led her into the garage where it was parked with a red ribbon on the roof, was beyond priceless. Edit: I just thought about it, my family has put >400k miles on these 3 Legends.

I owned the 1994 L coupe for about 10 months before crashing, (on the way to my first meet ever), 350 miles from home. /snif snif
I have owned the 1995 LS Coupe for about 4 months, and have just about completed my interior swap. Next up are the NSX seats. ![]() I have driven a combined 10,000 miles on my two 6 speed coupes so far. fun fact: I spent a year looking for a 6 speed coupe, when I finally found it, down in San Diego, the day after I received the loan check and was scheduled to go down to SD and pick up the car, the seller was offered more money. I was pissed but decided to wait it out. The other buyer backed out and I bought my '94 L Coupe 6 speed. The story doesn't end there! I posted a while ago about crashing on the way to the San Francisco meet. While I was looking for a replacement car, I found one up in SF where the crashed Legend was parked. I drove up and bought the '95 LS Coupe 6 speed, and the owner was... DUM DADA DUMMM!!! The guy who offered more money for the '94. ![]()

I'll go ahead and start mine, and update it with pics very soon.
I got my first job as a salesman at a used car dealership here in Canton back in 1997. I worked my ass off the entire summer to save enough money to get a decent car. I was looking around at different cars when my boss offered to sell me his 89 Legend L Sedan. It was white on the outside, no dents, and that cushy tan cloth on the inside. I drove it once, and paid cash for it the next day. I bought it with 123,000 miles, and drove it over 3 years. It was stolen in the fall of 2000, wheels were stripped, stereo gone, and the thieves flipped it over in a field. It had 194,000 miles on it when it finally passed away. 89Lsedan.jpg ![]() In The summer of 1999, my friend Woody showed up to one of the car shows in a hot Milano Red 94 Coupe auto. I had never really seen a G2 Legend coupe before, especially one that had 17" wheels, a nice stereo. He had just bought it that day. I immediately went on the search to find myself a coupe. My girlfriend at the time found a 92 LS coupe in the paper and the guy was asking $12,000 for it. I offered him $10k, he agreed, I signed the loan the next day, and I was a G2 addict ever since. I started off by buying 18" wheels, cracked a wheel and then bought another set of 18" ACE wheels, which you will see in the pics. I installed Eibach springs to stiffen up the ride after installing the wheels. A few months down the road, I installed a Clarion CD Player, a Clarion 5.6" monitor, a PS2, Alpine highs, and 1" Aura tweeters. Under the hood, I had a Weapon R short ram intake, throttle body coolant bypass, and then I installed a custom cat-back exhaust. I got it all done, and decided I didn't want a car payment anymore. I sold it to a forum member (myntric) for $13,500 with all the mods. I bought it with 108,000 miles and sold it with 123,000 miles. 92LScoupe.jpg ![]() After I sold my coupe, I went car hunting and found a 92 L Sedan with a manual transmission. I found it at the back of a Toyota lot all dirty, flat tire, a pulley squealing. I bought it for $2000 cash and drove it home. After cleaning it all up, fixing the idler pulley, and repairing the tire, I bought a set of Enkei Aegis 17" 3 piece wheels from my friend Woody, they were the ones he had on his 94 coupe that had been recently totalled. I drove that car for most of the summer and sold it to a local guy for $4800. I bought it with 148,000 and sold it with 162,000. 92Lsedan.jpg ![]() While I owned the sedan, I came across a really cheap 88 LS coupe for $700. It needed body work, and an alternator. I sent it out to my buddy, and for $350, he made this car look a million times better. After installing the alternator, I sold it for $2400. I only put a few miles on this car since I was daily driving the sedan. 88LSCoupe.jpg ![]() I took a few months off from the Legends, moved to South Carolina, and picked up another 88 L coupe. I fixed it all the little things wrong with it, and sold it for $700 more than I paid for it. 88LCoupe.jpg ![]() The next day, I found an 88 LS sedan that needed a transmission. I installed a used transmission and made $500 off that one. 88LSSedan.jpg To Be Continued....

Tyson--you by far meet the mileage requirement.
If you guys are close, I urge you to go ahead and POST! My intent is not to exclude people. I'm just trying to avoid the, "Yo--I just bought my Legend. Here's what it looked like last year. Here's what it looks like today. I've got a headlight out. Can anybody help me?" My wish is to compile some die-hard Legend enthusiast stories, documentaries, media, etc... in one place! Sharr--you've got so many custom mods. under your belt, please go ahead and post! I'll add a third rule for that. Cheers, guys! k.

If we receive enough quality stories and media,
I was hoping to compile everything together in a Legend cocktail book, or something similar. What do all of you think?
