MikeD to NALM '08 - Let's do it again!
Guys, this is a topic that Lee (sleeprlegendcp) and I have talked about for sometime and I think now is the time to go public. As many of you know, for years MikeD from Germany was/is one of our most respected & beloved members. Despite somewhat of a language barrier, Mike was an invaluable resource and friend to many of us. In '04, a group of us wanted to attend NOPI in the ATL and it was decided to start the MDAT (Mike Dichte America Trip) fund to help get him over here for that event. Graeme (LegendGS) administered the PayPal account, numerous Forum members pitched in and we collected a significant sum. Another member (Jetdoc?) had access to reduced fare flights and we were able to get Mike & KevinKA7 over here. The details can be found in a NOPI '04 thread but needless to say, that event was a milestone in this Forum's history and a weekend that will never be forgotten by all that attended.
Sad to say, a short time after NOPI, there was some miscommunication/misunderstandings between Mike and some former/current members and we all went our separate ways. I think I speak for a lot of Forum members when I say that of everyone that has left, MikeD has been missed the most. However, I have spoken to Mike from time to time and I believe the time is right for us as a group to welcome one of our brethren back into the fold and bring him to NALM '08 in Chattanooga the same way we got him here in ’04. What say you, brothers? EDIT: Since there is OVERWHELMING support for this idea, check my sig for the PayPal link that Dave has set up:

Plus he was the first person on this board to actually learn and refer to me by my real name!! Some of my best friends don't even know my real name! MDAT v2.0 ftw! ![]() Last edited by sam o nela : 11-13-07 at 01:28 PM. |

So noted and edited. One of us will handle that end of it. Was it Jetdoc that got the reduced fare ticket?

I'll pitch in. Let me know when it all gets started. I know I would like the same if I was out of country and wanted to come to NALM. Now not only should we do this, and help him out, but we should make sure NALM is one hell of a meet. Not 15 Legends, I mean 50-100 Legends. I think every able bodied person should so up to this.

Great move Steve & Lee! I was just re-reading the NOPI MDAT thread late last week. He's a valued member and I'm glad He's started to come here more and more lately.
