As down for the the Searchin4acoupe Foundation's cause as I am, this is my parts money here and unfortunately, parts seem to sort of fall off of the BMW so I have to keep a fresh supply...

The exact cost is still being determined. We have a few leads on discounted airfare. Until those leads are followed and the origin and destination are determined, we won't know an exact cost.

As far as I'm concerned, it isn't my money to keep. If all of the wheels fall off this thing, I have absolutely no problem with sending the cash back, minus the PayPal fees. I never use my PayPal account so there is absolutely no danger of me losing track of how much I have and where it came from.

Regarding the should I vs. shouldn't I donate... I've never met Mike, or even spoken to him. I know he's an established, valued member of the community who has earned and deserves this. That's all I need to participate and donate.

Let me put it like this.

Back when MikeD was really active, every single post he'd make was extremely long and detailed, usually with labeled pictures regarding whatever you needed help with. If you needed help with something, he would actually go out to his own coupe, pull some stuff apart, take pictures, put everything back together, add labels on the pics, then host them to point out exactly what you needed help with.

What made it even more special is that English isn't his native language, and he was always trying to improve it just so we could understand him better. His posts weren't 100% perfect, but he'd try his damndest to make his posts understandable in a language that he was still learning.

How many other members here consistently go that far to help another member out?? Nobody. Mike is one of a kind.
