My new G35 coupe (big pics) - 56k beware

Here she is! Picked her up last Saturday (13 hour round trip). It has been non-stop raining here so everything is wet.

Infiniti G35 coupe Diamond Graphite/Graphite, Navi, Premium pkg (Bose 6 disc in-dash, sunroof, etc) performance pkg (18" wheels, perf tires, LSD), aero pkg (spoiler and diffusers), HID, and 13% SolarGuard tint all around.

I'm Jealous. I want to see a picture of its' behind... LOL

How do you like it compared to the Legend? Honestly as of right now, If I had the cash, and I was looking for a newer car, I'd only consider the BMW 540i or the G35 Coupe. Good choice

Thanks,

I'll get some photos of the G35's rump when the weather improves and I get a coat of Zaino on her.

Compared to the Legend the first thing one notices is how much more responsive the throttle and brake pedals are in the G35. I'm still not quite used to the throttle response and often over rev the engine. The brakes on the G35 are firm, very linear, and not grabby at all. While my Legend "Motegi" with Axxis MM pads is no slouch the G35 stops MUCH faster (110ft 60-0mph).

The steering in the G35 is razor sharp and responds much more to even the slightest input all while remaining on the heavy side. The steering wheel itself is a smaller in diameter and also thicker than the Legend's. The entire instrument cluster moves up and down in tandem with the wheel and is completely manual (versus motorized/automatic in the legend).

The G35's dual exhaust note on spirited acceleration is absolutely to die for (especially outside). Compared to my Legend with the Remus the G35's burble sounds like a v12. However when driving normally the interior remains very quiet. The chassis itself seem much more solid on the G35 and it seems to have much less flex than the Legend. Body roll is almost non-existent in the G35. VDC (selectable), TCS, and LSD keep the G35 under control under hard driving in the wettest of conditions. Also the drag coeff on the G35 with the aero kit and underbody diffusers is 0.28 with actual ZERO lift front and rear.

Ride quality is a bit firmer with the G35's 18"s and sport suspension compared to my Legend's Koni/RSR and 17"s. Even so, as Snake mentioned, the seats are so well designed the car is still very very comfortable even for long road trips (my drive home from the Infiniti dealer took 6.5 hours). The driver's seat height (low setting) is not much different in the G35 compared to my lowered Legend. However, a big difference is the outward view from the driver's seat - the G35's front windshield is much shorter vertically putting the rear view mirror a few inches lower into the forward view. The rear view mirror in the G35 is auto-dimming and has homelink which makes it a bit bulkier and more prominent as well. I'm so used to the Honda typical wide open forward view that the Infiniti was noticeably different. The Infiniti lacks seat memory settings (perhaps a feature to be added next year?) and only has manual seatback recline levers.

The premium 225W 8 speaker Bose stereo on the G35 sounds somewhat better than the premium Bose system w/sub on my Legend. The G35 has a selectable speed sensitive auto EQ and is is prewired for satellite radio.. Track up/down, volume, power, and input can all be controlled at the wheel.

The G35's Navi has a definite gee-whiz factor in the way it raises and retracts into the dash and the selectable 3D view. It is packed full of features and wisely keeps separate of AC and stereo functions. The basic operation, however, I find to be a bit less intuitive/informative as compared to the Acura touchscreen Navi in our MDX.

The G35's sunroof is one touch and has both tilt and slide open functions which would have been nice on the Legend. The one touch up/down driver and passenger windows on the G35 are handy also. The Infiniti keyless entry fob can also open the windows on those hot hot summer days.

P.S. I don't really like how the new Lexus SC looks and it definitely loses out on the cost/performance ratio compared to the G35. Our neighbor has a white one...

Beautiful Car Koji!!! That kicks so much ass! BTW, I'd take the G35 coupe over the SC430 any day even if price didn't matter. Right now my affordable dream car is a G35 Coupe with that new Greddy Twin Turbo kit .

I think the quick throttle response can be attributed to the DBW, or TBW (Drive by Wire or Throttle by Wire) whichever you prefer to call it. I've notived this same thing on the Lexus we just bought since it too uses DBW. I'm not sure what Honda cars have it lately but I know the NSX came out with it in 1995 I believe. Supposedly owners say it is more responsive than the 91-94 throttle. That graphite color is a real nice color. I'm actually a little suprised you got teh rear spoiler though. That is a piece I still haven't gotten used to. Over all, very nice.

Sexy...that is one of 3 cars that I would buy now as well (new).
I am biased, but the Sc430, the G35 and the 540i are all cars I would want new....

The ergonomics of the G35 coupe are great. Make mine Black please! . Koji are you going to upgrade the performance with any JDM 350Z parts? I know that’s what I want to do! Love the car, its too bad Honda/Acura doesn’t have an equivalent!

Enjoy!

drool

you lucky lucky *******, I really really want one of those, or an SC430, but I'm just gonna have to continue dreaming seeing as my parents refuse to spend money on cars, and don't like to buy luxury cars (they prefer more gas-efficient family sedans)

Sometimes, I want to say "the hell with my economy" and just buy like a 35k car like this.

But hey, I must be grateful that I have a Legend, after all.

I test drove the sedan on Friday, and it was very responsive to my heavy azz foot. I too liked the Navi system and the Bose system. I hate to say this but if they don't accept my kids Power Wheels as a trade in, I might have to trade the Legend in for the G-35.

Get it! Got the 4 door for my wife with the Nav and she loves it! Very tight handling and horsepower, comfort ride. No wonder they are selling like hotcakes. Wife also asked if I would mod it for performance.. heh heh heh... You think?

PS For those thinking about the Z. You would do better to get the G35 coupe and mod that instead. It is less in $$$ and you get luxury plus performance as well as a longer wheel base.
