RDX Turbo

im sure you guys read on ToV about the RDX already, but im just seriously impressed with what they did with it.

i love that honda still goes the extra mile.

Whenever they do a factory turbo (on the larger cars) they always do it big.

Quote:
The revolutionary i-VTEC Turbo technology uses a variable flow turbocharger, which is exclusive to the RDX, and provides dramatic performance benefits while maintaining excellent fuel efficiency.
Yep, they threw a VNT turbo at the thing. those are the best thing for low end torque and have high rpm power, and save fuel all at the same time.

the Honda Legend of course used the same technology. the "Wing Turbo" in the 2.0Ti Legend.

Only problem with this setup i can see is the inability to easily tune the engine since the wing turbo is controlled by the ECU, but if honda uses a similar based ECU like the RSX, Hondata might be able to allow you to control your boost throughout the range. pretty sweet.

that or you can throw regular wastegated turbo at it an have fun. but i can definately see this thing having as much or even more grunt than the RL and odyssey down low with that turbo system.

i have to say, im actually interested in seeing some journalist reviews on performance when it's produced.

Newbie question: So how much work do you think is involved to swap that turbo engine into a Legend. My mechanic says all Honda engines are interchangeable.

Nice 240/260 isn't bad out of a 4 cylinder.

It very well might. I do not believe Honda ownes the theory, but thier system is owned by them. Also I am not sure if they developed it, but I have never heard of anyone else using it in 1989.

variable style turbos have been on porches and a lot of deisel engines in the US, it is not the debut of it, nor is honda anywhere even remotely close to the creator of it
