its honestly an animal that you and i have never seen... so how do you know what it can or cant do?

Its obviously a form of bird, yes. That is quite obvious. And its legs are probably underneath it, where all birds legs are.... so.... ummm... ur co-worker observed it climb a wall or sumthing? and then glide down?

You said in your first post, it cant fly, but it can glide.

I just wanted to know how it glided if it cant fly. And if it has no legs, as u say, how does it climb to glide?

Just curious dude.

mystery solved

http://www.answers.com/topic/ratbird?cat=technology

Quote:

Ratbird

Ratbird is a fictional animal derived from a series of books known as the Edge Chronicles.

A Ratbird is (as is evident from the name) a cross between a rat and a bird; it has the head and tail of a rat, but has wings and can fly like a bird. Its behaviour resembles that of a pigeon, and when taken out of its home sky ship and released, it returns, so some people use them to deliver one-way messages. They have a strong, sensitive sense of smell, which handlers use to seek something out and return with information of a location - conveyed to a Ratbird handler through an areal display similar to a dance (a skilled handler knows that each wing dip, loop-the-loop, and aerial spin reveals key navigational information).

Ratbirds commonly roost in the bilges and lower holds of sky-ships, leading to a superstition among sky-pirates that when the Ratbirds all leave a ship, then they are truly doomed.

Ratbirds tend to travel in large flocks, and in such numbers that from afar, these flocks resemble thick black clouds. When one turns, the whole flock turns in unison, like a hive mind. This behavior is very similar to the Ratbird's cousin, the meat-eating Snicket.

Quote from "Cloud Wolf": The ratbird switched its tail, flapped its furry wings and, with a squeaky screech, was gone.

A ratbird is also an unofficial golf tournament played in central Pennsylvania. This tournament is comprised of the best golfers in central Pennsylvania that play for a special jacket.

damn do you read anything i write?

i said it doesnt have legs like a bird... LIKE A BIRD....

obviously rats have legs too but alot shorter...

there are animals that can glide but cannot fly...

for instance the flying squirrel, flying fish, flying geckos...

if it really didnt have legs how would it move then?

how would it just appear there...?

this thread was just to share some crazy shit that i've seen... you can believe what you want, some of you see that its a rat... some of you think its a bird without a beak..

i honestly dont care.. i just think its fuccin crazy.

and seriously... your posts are just stupid and insulting...

WHATEVER the fuck it is, lets hope, its the last friggin time WE see it.
I wouldn't rule out the possiblity, thanks to mother nature we have evolution, and I'm sure just like flowers being able to cross pollenate, that animals may be able to do the same. However I highly doubt that a creature that gives birth to live babies can reproduce with an animal that lays eggs.
Let's just hope, its a bird with it's beak ripped off, or when you say ratbird you mean rat's bird as in a rat's previous dinner.

That looks like a mutilated bird, (or a stuffed bird gone wrong with the poor quality control in China.) The definition of being of the same species is the ability to produce offspring with the capability to reproduce. That's why you see sterile offspring of zebras and donkeys, they aren't the same species, but are closely related equines. There's obviously no way the DNA is even closely related from a rat(mammal) to a pidgeon(bird), so there's no way they would even be able to have offspring. It's been years since I took my med genetics classes, so pardon in advance for errors in the above. Anyways, that's kinda like saying President Bush is a ratbird chimpanzee hybrid.

Edit: I take that back, somebody here has an avatar showing the similarity between Bush and a chimpanzee. You go, ratbird!
