"Ricers"??? What about "Wafflers", "Tortillians" or "Fried Chickenese"

After reading one of the posts, I couldn't help but brings this up. The term "ricers" is a bit offensive to me as an American of Asian descent.

I'd love to know what all you Legend chumps think.

Well personally I think you being a touch too sensitive about the subject. The term "ricers" refers to the cars themselves and not the people who drive them. I can see where you may get offended because cars from Asian countries are referred to by a major food in those countries' diets. But no one is calling you a ricer. Just the car. Plus you have to admit that rice, or rice-burner has become a common term in sport compact car culture. Now fried chickenese is something I've never heard before! But if my coupe was manufactured in the hood then you could call it fried chickenese all you wanted and it wouldn't bother me one bit!

I am indifferent to the whole thing. If it were really offensive I probably wouldnt say it. I usually say that it is "too F and F"(Fast and the Furious) for my taste. I can say from own personal background that asians aren't the only ones that eat rice, 'cause almost everybody eats the hell out of some rice!!! I am hungry just thinking about it.

p.s.I am not offended by "Beaned Out" term either

it's weird you try to use a less derogatory term for something but a stayed moniker is hard to rid of. i try to not use it knowing it's offensive.

In all honesty when somene calls a car with chorme on it "ghetto" with a negative tone that's irritating to me. Everybody does something.

g2girl hipped me to "Integra" i like that phrasing.

If you are offended by the term "ricer," don't be one and nobody shall call you that......it's fairly simple.

I can understand where he is coming from, but I think he is being a bit too sensitive, I mean every country that produces a sports car - there is a term to define the car and it is usually based on something indicative of that country.

I'm white but I understand why he thinks its offensive.

Like most racial slurs, my reaction is that the person using the slur is a moron.

When did "ricer" become a racial slur? Is "lowrider" a racial slur to hispanics, or "hooptie" a racial slur to blacks? The point is that its not a racial slur, its just slang for a japanese car. (I hope the phrase "japanese car" didn't offend anyone. )

So wat terms do they have for American made cars, or European cars.
I'm asian, but to me "ricer" is the term for the car so i don't get offended or don't care to be more exact.
