You guys have any recommendations for my first piece?

Something accurate and fairly light? I'm a noob when it comes to firearms, I do all my dirtywork with tire irons, shovels and sledgehammers.

Thanks

I'd say a good sub-compact 9mm. Are you looking to carry on your person, or is this more for home security only?

I moved out here from GA about 7 years ago. GA law allows you to carry in your vehicle with a basic firearms permit so long as its in plain sight (ie not concealed). Getting a CPL is relatively easy in GA, its one of the more liberal states when it comes to granting them. If you're going to use for home security, your best bet would be a .40 S&W or a .45 ACP. One you may be interested in looking at is the H&K USP series. Just my .02 but I've never been a fan of 9mm for home security. Recoil difference between the .45 and .40 is non-existant, be it in the full or compact size.

Who Keeps a Deagle?
that will be my first legal gun, but there's a .38 revolver 'single action' (hated cocking that bitch)back home... Warning keep you guns away from women.
And I've played with a .45 when I was younger but the kick back on thoes fuckers don't play.

anyone seen the vid of the chick that shot a .45 and hit herself in the head when it kicked back?

Glock 19's are Ok but there just too common, and they have no real apeal to them, no grip. its just a gun, but it does have fun factor. If I was to get one it would be a "machine" "fully automatic" hold the clip spray up yo car fun. (not legal in all states) But hell this is texas.
