CAI idea
i decided to clean my intake filter a couple weeks ago and decided to take off the "heat shield" that was on the filter. This is how i had it on my car before i took it off:
and this is how i have it now: has anybody tried this? give me your opinions. :p so far it feels like my car picks up faster than the previous setup. |

This picks up faster because you've got less turbulance.
You're using dryer hose, bro. k.h.

You want your air to flow in smoothly. Dryer hose is not the best way
Check the FAQ for some alternatives

That black underground gutter run off pipe has to go, and I think that by having the filter there it will hurt it by rubbing against the metal edge of that hole, and not do much since there is half in and half out, it will draw more engine bay air than outside air.

wow, bring that baby back inside or take it to the front. Sorry I have to say this bro, but you need to cleanup your setup. Im worried about kepping my filter clean and its a short ram, ..... inside the engine bay. I'd be worried about dust and dirt on the filter, also, if you want your engine to last, get a K&N filter, those fiberglass type filter dont block dirt or other small particles and if you place it by your tire your just asking to cutdown the life of your engine. I'd move it to the front like you had it the first time, good call on cleaning it, for those that have a CAI i think that it's good to clean it every month or so depending on where you live.

thanks for the comments guys. i'm wanting to make a real pipe out of mandrel when i get the money. i know its ghetto but i'm just experimenting right now. believe it or not but i actually bought that hose from a local autostore that's an "intake extender". But yeah, i'm not planning on keeping this setup for long.

If i could make my own CAI I WOULD go for that oem look. all black, i would want the filter to be right by the front tire as well. well hidden.
I would paint my entire intake black . and buy a black filter. that would be dope! |
