Detailed Grandpa's Car

This forum doesn't get much traffic, so I thought I'd throw in some new pics. Just another stock '97 RL with 88,000 miles.

Grandpa picked this one up about 2.5 years ago. It's probably only been driven 10,000 or so since then. My grandma is driving it and I guarantee it rarely if ever sees above 3,000 RPM. I can't remember the last time they actually took it on the freeway. At any rate, that's fine with me as long as I get to drive and detail it periodically. I don't drive it anything like grandma does .

I'm hoping to pick this one up if/when I decide to let the Legend go. Grandpa will give me a killer deal on it. First thing to go will be those nasty wheels. I'll throw on my mom's stocks (she has a black '00 RL) until I'm able to afford something more stylin'.

In the garage next to my mom's '00 RL:

This is a little inspiration for me... Not a huge fan of the wheels but it at least shows that the RL has potential.

RL looks nice. Nice garage too, very clean! A clean garage is a must for me, everything must be in some kind of order. I hope you don't plan on selling your Legend anytime soon, as nice as that RL is, you Legned is a much better car.

I've seen your garage -- it's incredible!! I'm the same way... the less clutter, the better. It's the only place my mom lets my dad hang his deer antlers . My dad mops the floor in there; it's pretty insane.

Looks Great!!!!! I almost forgot that there was an RL gallery.

Go from a Legend to an RL when you are done having fun. My dad went from a Legend to an RL. Now he's back to a Legend. (and the Vette. )

What wax did you use on this ride?

Actually none. I didn't have my Poorboys order at the time. BTW, my Spray and Gloss came and I'm loving that stuff. I just need to get a decent sprayer, still.

It's a boat. Let's just say I was doing some "spirited" driving around corners and such, between the body roll and my butt sliding all over the leather seat, it was definitely not that exhilarating of an experience. The car is better suited to my grandma. BUT it is what it is -- a classy ride with typical Acura fit and finish. I can't survive with two doors forever and I may be ready for the transition to the RL in the future.

Yeah, the garage has plenty of room. You have to take the driveway at an angle carefully, though, or you'll scrape your tailpipe. I've wished so many times we had a third garage bay. My car's been left out in the sun all summer.

I don't think you guys realize that the RL is a very capable car when you fix the little things that Acura skimped on. Main one is the wheels and tire package. When you upsize those alone the car feels totally different and the ride isn't all that much more rough. Not nearly as much body roll and the car sticks pretty well. However if you put in the Comptech springs and roll bars the thing is really transformed. Exhaust and intake can be had as well. It is really nice and more Legend like with those mods.

The RL is boring stock. But it can be a really nice car with some work. The best thing about them is that they will still have 90% of the nice ride with all those mods too. Can't really say that about the Legends with mods.

Acura improved the suspension on the 04's and perhaps the 03's in a MAJOR way. NO more float feel, rides like it on rails !

hey tyson, if you want to pick up an RL if you dont get a killer deal on that, pick up a 2002-2004 RL...more sport tuned suspension it's a lot less floaty and weak kneed. plus it looks awesome with a set of wheels.

How about a '95 GS and staying in the legend family??? although the RL is a stroked up G2 itself, i would hate to see an RL replacing 4cruizn...i think a KA7...espero que ud no compre el erre ele aunque sea un '04....LOL
