Thanks, yes, there are studies that seem to indicate postive impacts and in the converse there are studies that are negative on DRLs. I am firm in my research but like any topic I don't expect everyone to agree with my position.

I would love to see all of the lights gone, as I don't see the point. However you can have your lights on and have them not bother others and still have your style (look at LED or turn signal DRLs, for example). I just wanted to point out that when you use the regular lights (especially the brights) and fogs, that it can cause glare and have a negative impact on safety (even if it is only in the perspective or opinion of others).

We could go on, over and over, citing study after study but the bottom line is that we just need be more considerate to other drivers.

Thanks for commenting

I cant site my reasoning except from personal experience. Having my foglights on during the day makes my car more noticable, i cant count the times ive had people pull out and stop because they finally saw my car, and there isnt a doubt in my mind that its because they saw my piss yellow lights.
Whoa, hmmm. There is no reason to be rude.

Ok, so your changes were based on personal experience. So, your personal experience is more important than other persons personal experiences, that is the only message I am seeing here. The moment someone states anything that disagrees with what you already decided and you are off and wanting to shut them down. I guess that your answer is to do whatever you want to and not care about other drivers.

I would hope that you can be a little more considerate than what you have displayed here.

Cheers

Damn trolls. BTW: welcome to my ignore list.
Anyway, you are cursing and calling people names. That is uncalled for and quite rude. A conversation does not make a person a Troll. In fact, the way that you are communicating is Troll like.

Ok, so you believe in the masking affect of LEDs and Turn Signals (a fact, by the way, and another reason to not have them altogether). However, you can't bring yourself to realize that other drivers might view your fogs as your brights or aggressive driving and that it can cause a distraction as the driver sees your lights and then has to adjust to see everything else. You just can't realize that what you have done to your car could be an issue for other drivers. You can't bring yourself to believe that you might have made a mistake.

I thought you felt that the lights caused no harm, now we find out that you believe something different. Now, why don't we all call you names because you have the audacity to state that LED and Turn Signal DRLs cause accidents. All I stated from the beginning is that DRLs can cause distraction and be detrimental to safety and you called me names about it. Well, it looks like you are saying the same thing, so let the insults start, LOL .

Thanks

I have yet to have lights flashed at me telling me that my DRL are too bright, until that day, im gonna keep running mine and avoiding accident after accident.
I didn't call you a dummy. It was a pun on how dumb DRLs are, and was not implying anything against you personally. I call them daytime dummy lights, never a reflection on the driver who usually means well. You are not dumb, nothing of the sort was implied. Thanks for asking about that.

You, however, are calling me a Troll, and that is directed at me specifically so???

Good for you, maybe you will be lucky and not get flashed or spoken to. You have to realize that most people don't like confrontations and even if they are bothered by something that is done by another person they won't tell them in person. I don't expect you to put my comments on an equal plane with a personal contact, but I am mentioning to you that the lights can be a problem, so you can't say that no one has mentioned it.

Thanks again

Two more names called, duly noted .

Good, other people were handling the conversation better anyway. Quite honestly, all I originally did was put one statement out there to show that other people don't quite agree with having lights on all day. In the midst of the responses were some confrontational ones, why, I don't really know. It takes more than one person to have a conversation and they don't normally last this long if people are cordial.

I have done what I wanted to do and let you guys know that there are other ways to look at stuff and to open up a dialogue. I am firm in that DRL's should not be around, but perspectives do differ. The innapropriate name calling, cursing and rude comments did not come from me and did not assist in keeping the conversation civil and to a minimum.

At its basics, the only reason this thread seems to have been hi-jacked (it really hasn't) is because of a select few that would rather harass than actually have a normal conversation. Why is it so hard to allow others to talk? There is nothing wrong with what was being discussed, only the behavior of some.

Cheers

Thanks for your time. Actually, I am not trolling and it doesn't matter who I am. Just another driver talking to other drivers. Instead of speaking in reference to me, you need to speak to your OG's (??) and have them stop attacking people just because they disagree with them.

There was nothing pointless about what was being discussed. The only thing pointless was the name calling, cursing, badgering and other downright rude behavior that was exhibited by other folks that are directly responsible for the poor communication and number of pages on this thread. I am sorry that everyone doesn't agree with everyone else, life doesn't work that way.

I am sorry that others cannot play nice, I stand by what I had to say and I hope that it helps with the thought processes on this subject.

Thanks again

Well, now a real OG has stepped in...

PLEASE shut up this noise people...i'm going to leave this open for right now. Mr. larfx, thank you for your humble and documented opinion, you stood your ground with information, but it's time to live and let live.

Guys, rudeness and malicious name calling is unnecessary.

larfx, this one is done...let it go please.

LOL yeah, the discussion is done. This wasn't the right place to start the discussion, since it basically hijacked the thread, but alot of you stepped out of line with the rudeness and name calling.

Mr larfx was actually polite as hell with his opinion, and alot of you are the ones who called him a dumbass, said that was the dumbest shit you've ever heard, laughed and asked if he was serious, then went off calling him a troll and actually asking us to ban him for his opinion? Him posting an opinion that you disagree with != trolling. If he'd joined up to say "your DRLs suck, you suck, and i hope you die in a fire", that's trolling. This originally was just a civil discussion (posted in the wrong place, but still civil nonetheless)...even after all of you went off on him, he STILL didn't get rude in retaliation.

You all need to grow up and keep discussions like this civil, regardless of whether you agree with someone's position or not, and if you can't do that, leave it alone.

this is all quite funny. I spent the better part of an afternoon figuring out how to disable the drl's on our cavalier. The only reason I dont like them is because I dont like my car telling me when it is time to turn on my lights, thats what the swich is for. As for mr. peacock72, looks like you did a great job on your setup. I would never do it to mine but props for making your car the way you want it.
