My Progress Thread G2
I'm finally ready for some repairs and upgrades after (unintentionally) buying a POS last September. I figured I should make a thread to keep track of my progress so I can see what you guys think. This first post will be pictures taken by the dealer before I bought it. Don't laugh at all the rust, it'll be fixed!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Future Plans:
I'll take some pictures of the small things I have done so far later tonight. I look forward to hearing your opinions on the repairs/upgrades I make in the future!

I really don't see how that's a POS. I've seen much, much worse looking Legends than that, and even them I didn't consider POS.
What's the paint called anyway? |

The color is cashmere silver metallic. I say it's a POS because it's not even close to the condition it was advertised as. It's a long story, but I'll give the short version...
I bought it off ebay from a dealer in Chicago. When it was delivered, they gave the driver the wrong phone number, so he dropped the car off at a local storage yard and no one told me until 3 days later that I owed $50 a day for storage and another $50 to have it towed to my house. After the car finally got here, the battery was dead. I didn't have a problem with a dead battery, but they called me and asked me to post positive feedback "tonight" and if I did they would refund the extra storage/shipping costs. Even after I told them that the battery was dead and I didn't even know if the car ran, they INSISTED that I post positive feedback that night. I also didn't get the title for almost a month. It seemed like they did everything they could to make sure I didn't have time to file a fraud claim with ebay (30 days after auction end). They were very clear about all the visible problems that you can see in the pictures, like the rust behind the wheel well, but made no mention of the rust under the front grill on the hood (not visible in the the photos for some reason ). The auction claimed it had ice cold AC, yet it had a bad compressor clutch and leaking condenser. They claimed it had brand new tires with 90% tread, the receipt shows the tires are more than 4 years old, the front two tires have less than 40% tread, 80% on the rear, and both the passenger side tires have slow leaks. The pistons in all four calipers were frozen, the drivers side rear pads were COMPLETELY worn out so there were big gouges in that rotor. They claimed there were no visible dents, yet you can see one on the trunk in the first picture, and there are other dents all over the car. There is even one that looks like someone took a hammer and nail to the trunk next to the A in ACURA. Oh yeah, and the bumber cover and front passenger side wheel well liner was held on by zip-ties.After confronting them about all the repairs, they offered to buy the car back, but I would still have to pay shipping both ways. That would have been a $1400 loss, which would have been enough to fix most of the major problems! So it was a bad experience overall, though I must say even in the condition it was in, I still love it!

I had planned on getting pictures of some of the things I've done so far, but it's already too dark outside. For now, I'll just post the one picture I have of the mesh grill I made yesterday.
![]() Note: I photoshopped the rust I mentioned earlier, so I could use this photo to decide on the final color scheme. All silver, black\grey logo, black\grey border, black\grey mesh, and combinations of each. All silver looked the best, no one I showed liked any of the black/grey combinations.

The car looks nice in the pictures, but it looks like your car has been in a flood. Look at all of the rusted line's, radiator support's and bolts in the engine bay. I hope you didn't buy a Legend Lemon!!!

I was hoping the rust was just from the salt used on roads from the 12 years the car was in WI. I checked both Carfax and ConsumerGuide AutoCheck. Neither mentioned any flood damage, but did show two reported accidents, apparently both very minor.

ya man, hate to say it, it looks like its been flooded once, the trunk has signs of water was in there once, the engine bay, well look at all that rust in there(salt from roads more than likely wont get into the engine bay), rust lines on the car, and the carpet has a weird coloring to it as if water was stagnent in there at some point.

Should have drove it back to the dealer. $1400 shipping is not worth it ,of course. They offered to buy it back because there is something that has not been disclosed or they advertised it in a fraudulent manner. Dealers don't BUY cars back.....There is an issue here somewhere. If you love your car and have been serviced well by it. Service it well and enjoy it.

Now that you guys have mentioned it, the more I look at the car the more I think it's very likely it was flooded. There are rusted bolts and clips in places where there shouldn't ever be water. So let's assume it was in a flood... What do I do now?
The car seems to run fine, not that I would know if it didn't since this is the only car I've ever driven. The only mechanical issue I am aware of that I haven't fixed already is a bad CV axle and leaking valve cover gaskets. Also, once in a while it takes an extra second or two to start the engine. Not even sure where to begin in diagnosing that. And I know a few people who are going to help me out with the body work and a paint job in the next few months. Is there anything I should look for before I keep spending more money to fix it up?

About the discoloring you see in the carpet, If you're talking about the drivers side carpet under the floor mat, that is probably because the evaporator drain hose was clogged and water was leaking out of the air vents under the drivers seat. That has been fixed.
