My unique one and only AV Entertainment system + pics of my car!
Well, I am finally done with my AV system in my car. First I was happy with just my Avic N1... then I put in the sub, and then I wanted to be able to play divx/mpg files in the car for music videos. My first option was to get a portable dvd player, so I did. However it wasn't compatible with all the files and I didn't reallly like the interface. Sooo... came the Xbox idea. I was not going to use an inverter, because, well.. it sucks! So I got a special DC to DC ATX powersupply with a remote on/off signal. The atx powersupply is modified to work with teh xbox, and has a wire running to the power switch of the xbox. I turn the car on, 3sec and xbox boots, I turn it off, 3 sec and xbox powers off. The best thing is that the xbox is modified and has a 250GB hd. So I can store my whole music library on it, plus videos movies and some games too. I can just burn files to dvdr/cdr at home, put in the xbox and use the file manager to copy it over. I wired up the infrared receiver to the front (you'll see later on in the pics) and I use the xbox dvd remote for everything. I also ran 2 controller cable extender under the rear set so I can always plug in the regular controls. (I'd get wireless, but i dont really use it for games, so I don't mind too much). I think im the first one with this setup in the Legend
![]() P.S. - I was gona wait and show this off at the tristate meet but I couldn't make it, so here it is. I'ma start off with some general pics of the car first. (notice the diff from teh signature pic) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

dammit! you beat me to the idea! hahah i was thinking about a setup like that because a friend of mine has a modded Xbox with a big harddrive to hold all his music and videos and movies.. but i am not very educated on how to mod the Xbox ..well i guess i know who to turn to if i decide to put my Xbox in there also
you did a very good job on the setup though.. very good work indeed.. and i think you are the first to do this setup soo congrats .. soo i got to ask you.. what mod chip did you use? and where did you get it from?

oh yeah one more question.. since you have the Xbox in the trunk.. how do you access and play your files from the driver seat?? i see the Xbox remote control but i dont think the signal would reach the xbox..do you just use the regular Xbox control?

< reading through the tutorial on how it is done.. looks kind of hard to do..i was already thinking of getting a modchip .. hopefully i can figure out how to get it work and operate like yours to play music and videos..
i really want to do the TSOP but i dont want to take any risks and damage the xbox..might just opt for the modchip.. as long as it can do the same operations and yours i will be happy oh yeah.. are you going to post pictures of the infrared receiver today?
