after market vrs OEM

I am about to replace my rear struts on my 91 legend. I am also going to replace the rear springs. I can get the after market for a little less . should i just stay oem or are after-market just as good or better. I am leaving the suspention bone stock not lowering or anything like that.

I haven't replaced the shocks / struts on my G2 sedan, but I did replace them on my G1 with AYB. They were a little less, but the ride was stiffer and handling barely changed.

It kind of depends on what you want. If you want to lower the car, aftermarket. If you want to improve handling there may be some aftermarket suspension for that.

If you are happy with the way the car rides and handles, go OEM as they will most likely last the longest of all OEM or Aftermarket parts available.

OEM usually costs A LOT more than aftermarket.
My guess is you are paying way too much for the aftermarket stuff, or else the dealership is giving you a real deal - which I don't believe !

Thats about right. the springs are about 90$ and the struts was around 104$ from AOA. As for it costing too much Stu. I would guess you can get after market struts for around 75$. In any case it's too late i opted for the OEM struts and springs. the real reason the legend is going under the knife is because the oil pan has a crack in it at the drain plug and im replacing it. the rear struts and springs are just something i threw in while it's at the shop. In my honest opinion. for a car thats paid for IMHO I don't spend enough on my Legend .

If i were you I would go OEM for sure. The reason I wont is in Canada where I live in Toronto, 4 OEM shocks installed with taxes is $2300.00

Yup, two thousand three hundred dollars !

Aftermarket job is $850 for 4 Konis maybe taxes extra totla will be $1K

yes, these prices INCLUDE installation. Canada is an expensive place to buy stuff.

If you're just going to do rears, I'd stick with OEM if that's what you have in the front. You want everything to match.

If you're going to go all the way around, then you have more flexibility - at that point I'd research the aftermarket stuff.

So just drive across the border, and buy some shocks at the dealership, and drive back.

Hell, I drive up into Canada once every couple months, I could bring you some shocks. Customs shmustoms, they don't even check my passport.
