Snow Tires
I need to get snow tires for old man winter this year.
I work at a ski resort that gets hit with over 500 inches a season and I will be driving up every morning at 6AM before anybody else has driven the road. (Scary, huh?) I have used Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50's ($69) before and they were excellent for this same job. I never got stuck or slipped on the roads. (The only time I would get stuck was when my car bottomed out on all the snow) I was thinking about getting the same tried and true tires but was looking at the WS-60's.($80) I like the tread pattern better on the WS-60's because they don't look like they belong on an SUV. Will these grip better? Can anybody give me advice on even better, cheaper tires? I have 205 60 15's http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compare1.jsp?cameFrom=WinterSection&startIndex=0&v ehicleSearch=true&width=205/&ratio=60&diameter=15&sortcode=38550&performance=W &minLoad=S&search=true

Which resort do you work at?
I just got some Hancook's from discounttiredirect.com for $60 with free shipping. The reviews on that site were very good, but I haven't installed them yet, so I don't know how they perform, although the tread looks very good and they are studdable. |

I work at Solitude.
What kind of hancook's? I've been reading alot about snow tires lately and those have never come up. They say that the Blizzak WS-50's I had before are some of the best snow tires out there, so I might just end up with those again. They are only $69. $40 for shipping. So $76 more than yours for a set.

Yeah, that's not bad. I think on that site I mentioned they are the Hancook WS409's. The only bad I thing I saw in the reviews was sidewall flex, which is annoying for sure.
Probably the reason they don't come up is because they are the cheapest tire there is or something. haha I read some on the WS-50's and WS-60's and they sound pretty good. I just bought two Hancooks for now because I want to see if they are any good. I mean, I'm pretty sure they'll do fine in the snow, I just don't want them to be squirrely in normal driving. They're in my garage right now, I just need to get them put on, probably Tuesday. If you want a pic of the tread or something let me know, but yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with those Blizzaks. Actually after looking at that site with your rim size in mind, they are $65 a piece. You might also want to consider getting the 195/65-15 size ($5 cheaper per tire for the Hancooks). Thinner tires actually perform noticeably better in the snow. This will only alter your speedo accuracy and speed by 1.2%. 60 mph indicated = 60.7 actual |

Just checked that site again, and now they are offering a $100 discount off of 4 tires, and still free shipping.
In fact, let me know if you haven't already got tires, we can go in on some maybe. I need two more of the 195/65-15's, and if you only need two and you want that size, it would save us both some money. Without valve stems or replacement certificates, it would cost $35 a tire. |

I want all 4. I won't be buying these until after november 5th as I will be in Peru until then. Sorry I can't help you out.
I think I have my heart set on the same WS-50's I showed you. It's cheap enough and they were awesome for me that year. Stay tuned for a review.

No worries. I know how it goes when you get set on something, sometimes cost is irrelevant.
