Detailing at Meguiar's Corporate HQ

Last night Mario had his G1 at Meguiar's. More pictures later, I hope.

Looking good. Steve, I want more information on the Meguiar's sessions now that I will be getting the coupe back "for reals" on Wednesday (post-roof paint). What kind of pre-arrival arrangements need to be made for these classes, how much do they cost, can I just go by myself or do I need to set up an A-L meet, etc. It'd have to be on a weekend for my schedule. Very interested in getting the Legend down there for a detail.

Hey Tyson,

Quick answers - All you have to do is sign up on line. They are free, and you'll snag some goodies. You can go yourself. The full classes are on Saturdays.

The link below will give you a start on looking into a "Road Show". Mequiar's will come to you if you get enough people - 30 or so - and you have a facility. Local detailer with a two bay garage would be perfect. Look around the Mequiar's Web site, and if you want to request a Road Show let me know.

Saturday classes will be a little different in 2008. They are having advanced classes in addition to the regular class. You can only attend the regular class with a car club one time. So, SoCal guys who didn't attend this year start talking it up. You have three options - if A-L has a class, you can attend that one; you can attend any car club class as long as it's not filled; there will be "open" classes about one a month in 2008, you can attend one of those.

As far as the advanced class, I'd like to get the Legend group that attended the regular class this year to go to an advanced class together. Prerequisite for the advanced is to have attended a regular class. So you, or any A-L person could take a regular class, and attend the advanced with the rest of us. I hear the advanced will get into wet sanding - should be good.

There are also Thursday "Open Garages" - although the last one for 2007 is tomorrow. They are mainly to try out products, although some people do get quite a bit of work done on their cars. But don't expect to "detail" your entire legend at one of these. Not sure how much detailing you do, but I can tell you what I've done at Meguiar's, what I've learned, and what I do now.

Like they say in the class - Results depend on how much time you want to spend, what knowledge you have, and what tools/facilities you have.

Steve

Great! Thanks, Steve. You answered all of my questions. I am going to sign up and attend a Saturday "regular" class in the next few weeks, and then I will definitely plan on making it to the advanced class if/when it gets arranged.

As much as I would love to host or arrange a road show here in AZ, I don't have a facility nor do I know anyone who could host it. If you guys end up getting something set up in SoCal, definitely keep me posted.

If anyone who didn't get to go to the last SoCal Saturday class wants to go with me, drop me a PM and maybe we can go on the same day.
