Duct tape
How in the world do I remove duct tape glue from my paint? Lets just say I have it on my roof
Its on some glass (came off) and rubber (came off) but for the life of me I can't get it off with goo-gone. What should I use pat? |

I haven't tried this, but...
"If the tape is not too old you can try heating it up with a hair blow dryer till it's warm, then slowly pull it back against itself to pull it off. Use something like Goo Gone to remove any residue. Actually any paint cleaner will work also if you already have some. If the duct tape is dried out and now crinkly then pull off what you can and then use Goo Gone to to soften the mess that's left and scrape it off with a plastic razor blade or your finger nail If there's a lot of residue to be remove your finger/finger nail will get sore. (been there done that)" http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/thread/30875.aspx

Goof Off, Chemical polish, scrape with your fingernail.
Recently my dad bought a 2003 Ford Lightning that had a decal on the bed cover. We slowly chipped away at it, then got the residue off with goof off, then I polished the area with a chemical polish to smooth things out.

I had the same problem, when the rear window was broken into to steal the radio when the car was owned by the previous owner, he used a massive amounts of duct-tape to keep the wind out when driving down the freeway.
So, I used brake cleaner fluid, works like a charm, got it off the rubber and the paint just fine. just needs a little bit of elbow grease and apply lots of blake cleaner fluid. Last edited by smaster : 09-03-07 at 03:37 AM. Reason: spelling |
