Natural Sea Sponge or Sheepskin Wash Mit

Can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. I'm finding more and more swirl marks on my car. At first I thought it was because of the microfiber drying towels but the direction of the swirls make it look like its being caused by the wash mit.

I wash my car starting from the top, going in left to right motions, rinsing the wash mit frequently. I don't have a grit guard but I don't throw the mit into the bucket, it stays on my hand the entire time I wash my car.

Would using a natural sea sponge reduce the swirls or increase it? After reading the description on autogeek it says to rinse out the sponge because particles of sand might still be trapped in the pores.

I would suggest getting a new wash mitt and a grit guard. I think you might have particles in the mitt. Or you can try using two buckets, one with soap and one with clean water to rinse the mitt. Also I have noticed that not all microfiber drying rags are the same. Some are more plush and softer than others. I ordered some from autogeek ( the mango colored ones) and i dont like them for drying. I ended up using them for the window or my rims.

I use sheepskin. You'll never get NO swirls. But as you get more into detailing, you'll just notice them more. I try to not let it make me too crazy, but it does. LOL

How well did you presoak the car before dumping the mitt onto the car?

Most of the time, the problem is caused by the lack of lubricity.

I have a microfiber sponge. It's silly soft... very easy to deal with!

It's so soft that sometimes it can be a real pain in the ass to get bugs and stuff off the front end. But I'd rather have to put a little extra muscle in then worry about my cleaner scratching stuff!
