PAINTERS HOLLA BACK!!

My dreams of owning "Legendary Restoration" which will include a full paint and detail shop is beginning to fall in place. First, I bought a mobile detail van fully equipped with generator, water 150gal, pressure washers, and the whole deal. Business has been good, but I really only started doing this because I wanted to learn how to detail and no shop would hire me without experience. I downloaded a few articles online and the rest is history. The only way to learn is by doing.

So, as I was attempting to take the business to the next level...painting. I applied to several shops including Honda/Acura. The only shop that called was Honda/Acura. The job teaches pretty much every aspect of doing a perfect paint job. I've learned quite a bit already about prep
work. The manager said that it may take 3 to 5 years to learn how to paint. I'm trying to speed up the process..any advice?

from a commercial airplane painter:

NEVER SKIMP on the prep work. That is what will make or break your final product.

The very best way to get experience is to do every single thing from the bottom up.

And do it often. The more you do it, the better you'll get.

good luck to you

Thanks alot. The guys there are meticulous about prepping and the finished product is excellent. I just wanted a general time frame...

Best of luck to you. Let me know if you need a 'practice' car to paint and I will gladly donate my Legend for the project.
