PLEASE HELP ME RESTORE MY BABY
Hello Guys,
My car is extremely filthy, I mean filthy. I need a lot of help to get it detailed. I want to do it myself, but I don't know where to begin and what to do. 1- The car is dirty; there are all kinds of swirls/marks on the body...The car looks a little dried up. 2- Some guy had done a terrible paint job in some rusty areas where he put some bondos and some cheap paint with no primer. Those portions of the car probably need to be buffed and polished, I assume. You can feel the dryness and hardness of the paint when you touch those areas. But it's a good thing the car does not have that many of them. I need to get my baby back to its shine look. What do I do to get it to that clean and shine condition? Please Help |

I don't know what to do with the poorly painted parts, that might require more than polishing. Here is what I would do...
Wash Clay Polish (Poorboys SSR2.5 with a Porter Cable 7424 at Speed 6 with a Polishng Pad) Seal/1st Coat (Poorboys Polish with sealant, Poorboys Polish with Carnuba, Poorboys EX Sealant or Poorboys EX-P) Wax (Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax-Original, Blue or Red OR Pinnacle Souveran) You can read other threads here for more information or check out... http://www.detailcity.org http://www.poorboysworld.com http://www.pinnaclewax.com Good Luck

Yes, that is the Porter Cable 7424. Do some reading. I would go for a good detailing before I tried to wetsand. You can do a lot with a good buffer, the right products, and lots of time.

I'd go to a couple of local auto/detail professionals and seek advice! If you can afford to get it done professionaly, I'd have it done by them first!! That way you only have upkeep!!! Also ask if you can watch and learn!!! Can't hurt to ask!!!
