Reoiling leather?

Is it possible to get a softer feel to leather? Maybe soak it in conditioner for 24 hours lol.

I know if you leave gojo on vinyl for 24 hours it cleans and softens vinyl again. Has anyone tried this on leather?

Greek,

I don't know the answer to this question, but if you find it, share the knowledge man! I was cleaning/conditioning my interior and once the towel was really sopped with conditioner I just laid it on the drivers seat (the worst condition seat in the car) hoping that it'd soak in more, but to know avail.

Gotta be a way to help bring the cow hide back to life!

^ you beat me to it. Mink oil is amazing when it comes to leather. After I saw the results on my leather jacket, I tried some on my seats and it worked like magic. The one I have (some penguin brand) also cleans the leather gently. If its really bad then you should clean it first with saddle soap (been looking can't find it) or Zaino (which I did try and it works really well, just dont leave it on for too long). The mink oil should be applied after the stubborn stains have been removed. IT works much better than the Simonize stuff.

I think one member took his leather off, cleaned it from both sides and it got softer.

I was doing a search, to find some brands of Mink oil and came across this article

http://www.ehow.com/how_3138_clean-leather.html

They warn against using Mink oil on finished leather, but give no reason why. Does it stay on, and thus might stain your clothes?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Cool

Mink oil, buffalo oil, fish oil, glycerine... all will make leather feel softer... temporarily.

Reoiling Leather

I know it's hard to take advice from a newbie, but I really had good results from a leather product called "Color-Plus Soffener and Leather Conditioner." Not an inexpensive product (if I remember correctly, about $25/quart), but it sure did a world of good on my '87 Legend coupe leathers. I did have to apply it several times; however, my seats were left in a closed up car in Texas for a year before I got the car. The conditioner manufacturer's # in PA is 570-686-3158.

Lexol is the shit! when i first got my legend, the seats were very hard, now after having used this for about 6 months now my seats are soft to the touch and very supple. They feel wonderful, and i think its the lexol every week and avoiding parking in sunshine.

are you following the directions on the back of the bottle? also it will take a lot of applications to get it to work right, it isn't a 5 second cure. it will take some time depending on how bad the leather is.
