Any 3D guys here? Post your CADs!
No Jokes! I'm serious...
How many of you guys are CAD inclined and do it for fun? I do it for work and fun... created a few floor plans and 3D modeled them, and just today while I was learning this new program, i decided to have fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And i modified a run of the mill Car to put that engine in ![]() ![]() ![]() Modded: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm still trying to get the hang of this program, but it's fun in the process ![]() Anyone else just do this kind of thing for kicks? |

Yea i've used Solidworks, It's decen't and allows you to do quite a bit of interesting stuff. I loved VIZrender though. that was an amazing program for adding materials and creating life-like images. The cool thing about sketchup is that you can move your CAD file from Sketchup to Autodesk programs real easy.
EDIT: Got up got in the shower and starting playing on sketchup more. I'm going to try and get an entire chassis built up. Added Plumbing for turbos on engine. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i suck at Shaping bodies in the program right now. that's what i'm working on getting the hang of. I finished building the chassis, and i think i will develop an interior for this car and then reshape the exterior....Impressively, My parentals brought it to my attention i need an Independent Studies project for my final semester (next semester ) This will be it! Who knew i started early on a project. This should definitely net me BIG money when i graduate!![]() |

Thanks bBoarder, wyatt, and everyone else!
![]() What got me to Doing the Run of the mill car was the popularity of one of the other cars... the ASB (AUTO_SEDAN_BOXY) The car is just a regular low-polygon component you just throw into you CADs for more relative looks....the car became really popular and people started working on the car itself! Making the car an Art piece in itself! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's two popular ASB Artists. the one from up above did one of the cars in this picture...They're incredible! ![]() There's no "aftermarket support" for the Car that i did (for teh ASB there's Fender, grill, light, and engine/Drivetrain kits ), so i'm single handedly trying to build it up. Got good ratings on the one i did so i'm building up what i've coined as the "CS" as its call name in the program is "CAR_SEDAN"Kind of like Computer Aided Car Design and Drawing...i like to draw, so this is just fun ![]() Last edited by B+O : 05-08-07 at 04:04 PM. |

as you wish sire...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You can catch glimpses of the chassis behind the wheels in some of those pics. and as an aside. Google calls the CS a "Full size" sedan. i didn't believe them, so i measured it, and sure enough, it's a fullsize car to scale. Those wheels are 22" wheels |
