the sailboats yes. i built 2 speedboats for racing but one sank, and i sold the other. I find speedboats a hole in the water where as scale and sailboats will continue to amaze. Plus when racing sailboats it comes down to pure sailing skill and the conditions at hand. at the first mark you could be in 1st place but by the 2nd you could be in last if you choose the side of the coarse with no wind. its a fun challenge

Im glad people finally took the hint and started posted their non acura projects. These things are awesome. Do you buy the radio setup as a unit or do you piece it together yourself? Is the ship mostly balsa or what?

we do need to make this more then just a legend community.
As for the radio I have so many boats I don't want a new radio for each one so I have one transmitter that will control any boat. I piece each boat with a receiver and to find the best servo for the application and price. Both motor boats require a electronic speed control and I will pair that with the motor in it. The Chris Craft required a smaller micro servo to fit under the rear seat . The 2 sailboats require a higher torque servo to deal with the forces from the sails.
The hulls is made of several different types of wood. Since my build cost it less then $150, I looked at what I had extra and laying around. The frame is 1/4" plywood and the planking is 1/4 x 1/2 x 36" pine. The majority of the details are pine as well. The hull was then fiber-glassed for strength. Then the mahogany was taken from the chris craft kit.
