only think i would say about the pic mark, is it looks just a bit hazy. i took the liberty of touch it up some with photoshop. Its a lil darker, but the outline of the mountain in the background is still there and prevelent, and the lights are a lil more vivid.

still a great picture mark, regardless of the haziness, that all that bugged me about it, other than that, its a flawless shot. how long was that exposure?

to tell you the truth I don't know how long I left the shutter open on that one because i set my camera to bulb (one of my favorite settings) I think it was around 20 seconds, I should go back and do another shot up there right now while the air is cold and crisp maybe help to eliminate a lot of that haze. i think the atmosphere itself caused a good deal of that haze.

I think OEM is the best look. I just don't happen to think any of the various arrangements of OEM got it exactly right all at once

dont you bring that shit it here!!!

btw i know what you mean but i cant seam to figure out a post processing method with out destroying the shot but i do have an idea for on location

since you have experience with bulb i suggest you MAXIMIZE you fstop and minimize your ISO the max Fstop (you dont have to go as high as f22 bot f13 should do the trick) will givie you much more in focus and a greater depth of field

Another idea if you wana keep your fstop down around f7.1 i would suggest switching to manual focus this way you could set it. auto focus has problems in the dark. when you rotate the fous ring so that the lens moves out you are focusing on things close to you then youmove the focus ring into the body you are focusing on things far away

Ithink the buildings are out of focus and by doing either of these or a combo of them will succeed in an even better shot

oh i think i see what you mean basically make sure that the lens is at infinity focus and then try it out, right? I know what you mean with the af being weird in the dark when i get it where i want it i usully just shut af off. otherwise it will try to focus on things it can't see. I have to use the same technique when i shot lightning if you try to focus too close in the dark you get just terrible images. thanks for the input rich.

Composition is great, but you may want to crop it the dead space at the top or bottom hurts. Get rid of one

Also the contrast is a bit off and im lost in the detail of the rings, in other words I want to see more

The depth of field works good too but f1.8 might be a bit too much try 2.0 next time and watch your edge of focus.

finally clean your table. over all cool shot try it with close up filters if you wana play
