I agree with them, save the money and do the swap. If you don't know the the history of the engine, replacing the gaskets won't guarantee that there aren't other issues. Make sure you discuss both options with the person doing the job, the Legend & the RL swap. The Legend will mate easier, the RL requires some things being transferred over. Even with the RL there are some things I would recommend before it gets installed, such as new gaskets (head, intake & exhaust manifold & valve cover) and timing belt service. I would also do the EGR service. These are the things I recently did and not sure what the installer is willing to do. What kind of price and where is the motor coming from?
