FYI ACURA REMANUFACTURED AXLES!

This would be my 3rd time that I'm going to replace my axles. After reading posts all night, I took the advice of some and called RAXLES and midwest auto parts to look for the "RIGHT" axle for my 1993 coupe. Its odd that both company said that all 91-95 axles were all the same, which I don't believe is true. I called 14 dealerships and their computer catalogs says

91-94 uses part # 06 443 SP0 505RM
95 uses part # 06 443 SP0 506RM.

However their paperback remanufactured catalog conflicted and says

91-92 uses part # 06 443 SP0 505RM
93-95 uses part # 06 443 SP0 506RM.

They don't know and says that my 93 uses both part # 505rm and 506rm.
Some says that the computer catalog is more up to date than the paper remanfuctured book, so I should use 505rm.

When looking up new expensive axles,
91-94 uses same part #
95 uses different part #.
This would lead me to conclude that I should use 505rm.

I have currently on my car the 506rm and it gave out after a year's use.
Which is correct?

I don't want to keep buying the wrong axle.

From my understanding 91-92 uses type I motor vs 93-95 uses type II, thereby the reman book is correct?

However, the front end style if 91-93 are similar vs 94-95, thereby the comp. catalog is more accurate.

PLEASE, any input or advice would be good. 505 or 506, what are the differences between the 91-95 coupes axles????

kevin

hmm. really not sure why they would be different. i don't think front end design (the bumper) would matter, i think its more of a type1 vs a type2 issue, but don't see why the axles would be different. try calling Acura Of Augusta 706-737-5200. ask for Joe, tell him ur from Acura-legend.com, maybe he can shead some more light into this issue or maybe someone like Kenso, who works for acura can check this out.

I'm thinking about getting an axle from NAPA, have you tried one from them yet?

Thanks for the info btw... let us know when you get the right one.

aren't the raxles like $160 each? napa sells them for around $85, $60 on ebay, however you get what you paid for imo you should never skim out on a legend, if you use the better parts, your will perform better. yea i spend alot on maintence but when i tell poeple that my car handles well at 140mph, they are shocked and can never belive that a car that old can perform the way it does. I'm not trying to be cocky or anything, i've just invested money into keeping my car running well, becuase i like to drive a car that handles well.

cliffs: listen to the drunk guy, buy raxles!

yea but they were brand new, i heard the acura rebuilt axles are not as good as raxles, however better napa and other brands. my stock were changed at 150k, and they were changed with cheaper axles and how at 183k i'm starting to have problem, and am going to either get some with a lifetime warrenty or raxles.

Thanks for the replies. On monday, they'll find out for sure through honda of america to tell me the differences. According to Raxle, they said that Acura dealership uses cheap China made remans. They also said that they won't return my core charge b/c ACURA remans was using china stuff. This wasn't true. The remans of most dealership were rebuilt by honda using genuine honda parts. FYI raxles rebuild their axles too and aren't new themselves and claims that new parts would cost them even cheaper ($9). I think I'll stick with acura remans ($180 3yr warranty). BTW, does my outer tie rod boots have anything to do with vibration during accel? Could the tie rod boots be replaced easily while I have the axle removed? Thanks in advance for any input.
