I bought from him July 2001 at the tail end of the great extended group buy. I had a good experience with him.

Dethred - dangerous.... "I laugh in the face of danger" j/k

I can speak for myself and others that have taken their Legend down the strip - your not shifting at 5 or 6k.

We all take the gamble on damaging an internal component of our engine should we rev up (especially with extended life).

You are aware that your rev limiter won't kick in at 6k as indicated on the speedo - and I believe that Honda spun our 3.2s well past 8k possibly 9k (I don't know that for sure?).

(If you buy the chip) Chances are that you have taken your vehicle to its rev limit at time or two - have an intake and exhaust or at least its in the forecast.

I enjoy the difference and have only contemplated a return to the stock chip for long distances (out of state).

I've been looking through car-parts.com @ the prices for a replacement ecu to use while I send mine down.

The prices range from $50-$250. What's the deal on that big difference in the range?

My gut says to go with one priced in the middle. It'll be a couple months before I do this, but any suggestions while the thread is hot?

:werd: What he said... :D

Is this the group buy that occurred in the beginning of 2002? I remember sending my ECU away in February when I was away in Cancun for the week.

I have had no problems, wheN I returned the chip was sitting on my desk at work. Installed it, ran perfect... felt a good performance gain and havn't had problems since.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones.

back to my orignal question, Willy told me to expect a 21hp gain at the fly with the chip alone. I think that is very optimistic. Has anyone dynoed before and after this chip and has some hard data on the hp numbers? A lot of us are eager to know.:p

Aiznpride... I got and installed my chip from the groupbuy sometime last year and no engine problems or Check Engine lights ever came up... After reading your posts, I curious to know if Willie even did anything with my stock chip or just sent me back my factory one unmodified... I never bothered to Dyno my car after the install of the chip so I could have been screwed too... Although the car seemed to jump and react alot better after the chip was installed, it could be because I started using high octane fuel ever since... Any ideas how I can confirm that I actually got what I paid for?

DV8 dynoed his before and after, he got 7 HP and 7lb tq to the wheels out of the chip alone. He posted a dyno graph in the for sale section in a thread he's selling the chip.

21HP at the crank is not too optimistic I think, just a little bit because the chip was designed to work with Intake, Exhaust and Headers. But since only Intake and Exhaust is availible for the legend, that could have explained the drop in performance. Maybe once header becomes availible for the Legend, then the performance potential from the chip will be fully realised.

Will you be doing a dyno once you get the Type-II Stage 2 chip so that we can see what kind of a difference that one gives?

It's interesting that Dv8's max HP is at 6250 RPM with a Type I chip, and my max HP was at 5500 RPM (Type I). Is it the cams that give you a max HP at higher RPM?

good question, ive always noticed that in my type II the engine still pulls to 7000 with the TYPE I Stage II chip, the dyno guy quit it right at red line instead fo taking it to my rev limit. you notice that both ecu's are making power past 5500. i dont recall what that stock chip was from, if im not mistaken it was a 94 coupe, so im assuming that all coupes in 94 were type II. I could return my type I chip back to stock, since willy gives you the old chip to pop back in for a test out.

I personally think its because of the computer. dont you have a chipped one EK?

Speeddemon

you bet your ass i will. first i take it to the track.

I have a feeling i wont get much, seems like i got so much already.

Gamble.

You are right sir. All the 93-95 Coupes are all TYPE II both L and LS, so that ECU should be a TYPE II ECU if it was indeed from a 94 Coupe.

Type I chip

DV8

how much are you selling the type I Ecu with the chip ??

please e-mail me at

missing info

DV8, why don't the hp and torque numbers on your non-chip run start until 4400 rpm?

there is no way to compare low end gain without those numbers as well. I'm more interested in those gains, or maybe losses than high end output.

No low RPM due to car being automatic. To get low RPMs, I think you need to run in D2.

Anyway, yes I do have a chipped Type I, but my max HP is still only at 5500. No point revving to 7K.

what do you mean? you can rev out that high? go to your car and let me know where your revlimit is.

post you dyno again.

i know your type I engine is rated at 5500 rpm for peak power, but i fuigured that with a chip that would be changed. so it would make sence why im at 6200rpm making the mos power because its a type II and its rated at 6200 for peak.
