hey in nascar didnt 3 or 4 ppl die since 2000? and they are the safest in the sport of racing if not tthe top ones. on the street, closed circuit the track wherever. even when driving normally theres always a risk. they dont get on the case of a granny who has heart problems getting behind the wheel or gramps who is half blind in 1 eye but quick to get on street racers in any instant. im not saying its totally good everyone should street race, but everyone has a need for speed and untill they start opening tracks closer to home it will still happen everyday.

i wouldnt say nascar is safe. those guys are racing at 200mph. if something goes wrong, i dont think one would die, i think a few would.

There's risk factors in everythting you do...even having sex nowadays can put you in a cofin....As racing has progress in the last 30years I believe the technology for keeping the race car drivers safe has evolved nicely...Just last month there was a top fuel drag racer who walked away from a car that was completely demolished after flipping over front first landing on it's top side with the back wheels front first.....Racing on tha streets is just like anything else it comes with a risk factor.....Us as individuals have to weight those factors when taking risks in situations such as street racing....

At least if you are at the track there are trained professionals there to take care of you or anyone else who may be injured. If your racing in the steets and somthing goes wrong, those few extra minutes it takes for help to arrive could meen life or death. The whole concept of racing is to take you and your car to the limit for a thrill, and its all good as long as you and the people your racing get your thrill without putting other peoples lifes at risk. All im trying to say is why even risk going to jail or worse when you can race just as fast without the extra risks.

dude trust me, some of the track accidents i seen on tv, the driver is 80% chance dead before help is there. if you race, you take a risk of your life, you just have to understand that before you slamm the gas pedal.

Right but at least its just the driver, if a racer dies he knew that was a risk before he even started the car, but if a mom dies on the way to pick her kid up from school, i doubt she was thinking about the risk of an accident when she left her home. Like i said its all good if you want to race, just do it somewere people who wernt looking for the thrill of a near death experiance can get involved.

anyone getting behind the wheel of a car should know that there is a risk whether ur racing on the freeway at 100mph or driving in the neighborhood at 35mph the risk is always there...cars are not accident proof it can happen to anyone no matter how safe u drive orr how safe ur car is.

true, but thats like comparing apples to oranges, driving at 35mph is significantly safer than driving at 100mph on public streets. But its obvious you have your heart set on street racing, which is fine, im just trying to help you out. but anyaway good luck and drive safe.

Considering my driving habits as some people on the board already know about, I must add a reply to this thread. I really don't believe that speed alone kills people and causes crashes. Bad decisions can be made at any speed. Now speeding through a residential area or in a school zone is always a bad decision, but opening up your car on an open freeway is not always wrong. I drive very fast, but when I am going 100+ I get into the zone and focus solely on the road and the enviroment around me. I don't tailgate or weave in and out of cars and when the conditions change I adjust my speed accordingly. I am guilty of doing some irresponsible things on the road, and I'm not proud of that at all. But I think its crazy that you would invest in a car with the performance of the Legend and never go over 70 mph. Get a Kia and save gas and money if you want to do that. Not trying to change anyone's opinion, but there is a time and place for everything. And if you want to mix it up on the freeway every now and then then thats your choice. I would just suggest that you maintain a strong focus on the road, and be prepared to deal with the legal ramifications of breaking the speed limit if you get caught. Some may ask, "Is it worth all the nights you've spent in jail behind tickets and the two blown headgaskets you've gotten just to feel the rush of going 120mph?" And I would have to answer that with a resounding, "MOST DEFINITELY!"

i dont street race at all i just have a need for speed at times but through years of tickets and suspended licenses i have chickened out a bit. but when u say help me out what are u helping me with? im not addicted to go every friday nights to the races at 1, 2, 3am like ppl i know its not that big to me now that i have a Legend but diff ppl have diff views on this and they will do whatever they want regardless what we say on the forum or what happens on the news. it might just take them their own personal experience b4 any type of change can occur

you are just as stupid as them, it doesnt matter where you are, street racing is dumb, people get hurt.
I gottah agree with em on this one. Street racing can be dangerous. No matter who you are and how good you drive. Take the story that is somewhere in this forum about some guy who totalled his legend. He worked really hard on his car. Put blood and sweat into it. Then one night while he was speeding even though he does this every night at the same time, a deer decided to pop out. Now dude has to get a new car. The point is speeding, period isn't cool because you can't predict whats gonna happen. So imagin you were street racing an a kid pops out.. un predictable right. You just never know. Residential or not there can be a person or an animal that can get hurt and you could hurt urself.:nono:

i think street racing is dumb in residential neighborhoods or light to light racing. at least i give them credit for closing/blocking off the highways so if the racers crash the possibility of it being just them is greater and noone else would be in harms way....untill we talk about mother nature

ahhh. Guess what happened to me guys?

Felony stop...

put your hands out of the window...
unlock the door, unlock the fucking door...
Get on the ground, put your hands on your gott damn head... NOW...

It was intertaining to say the least....

well he was in a tahoe parked on the side of the highway when he clocked me doin 86 in a 55... I floored it... hit an exit and pulled over... for some reason I didn't feel lucky about running.

then felony stop...

after he searched my car... (very unthurough I might add)
He was like You tried to evade me... I was like No I didn't
He was like you sped up and you turned off your lights. I was like no I didn't
so while he was writing my ticket I was asking him questions about his tahoe... pretty fast it was (but not fast enough to catch a legend)
we ended up talking about the new intake and supercharger the tahoe has instead. he wrote me a ticket for doing 60 in a 55... what a cop that was. :giggle: He told me I should be on my way to jail right now and sent me on my way... what a story huh?

only you can help yourself, im just trying to inform you of situations, you can get yourslef into, that you might not have thought about. but in the end your gonna do what you wanna do, and i understand some people have to learn the hard way (me being one of them).

i appreciate what u trying to let me know im just on this thread voicing my opinion and i am split between the 2sides here and i doubt there would be any thought that would tip me heavily to the other side. there are things that i can agree with u on and there are things that others have pointed out that u might not agree with and i do. its just that this will never stop. whether it be innocent bystanders or participants, past present or future, on the forum or the streets there will always be a way (unless they decide to have electrical regulators that would automatically regulate speeds for highways...no time soon haha) there will always be unfortunate incidents or just another race or just another speeder.

at this point we will always have this ongoing debate and the stubborn who will believe nothing will happen to them or those who think its wrong. i just sometimes wonder y ppl bother argue about a pointless topic which will never get through to the other persons head. but all i gotta really say from here on is that everyone should just drive carefully and accept responsibility for ur actions whatever the outcome is

you are 100% percent correct. there will always be racing and there will always be speeders, and like you said voicing your opinion is what forums like this are all about. and dont get me wrong i love racing, and i love speed but i hate jail. so for me ill stay at the track and maybe one day when you think your ready and you think your car is ready, ill give you a real race. :)
