93' Type II 6 speed coupe w 200k - Worth fixing?

Ive had this car for 7 years and put 100k on it. Other then a few simple things needing to be fixed, the car has run like a top and is a blast to drive (but I dont have to tell you guys this). Its getting on time for me to do the headgasket (just starting to get weak) and timing belt. The lowest price Ive gotten to to do this is $2,400 out the door, but this guy, like all the other mechanics Ive talked to, have said its not worth it. One guy said that the lower end of the motor (3.2 Type 2) is likley to blow after the headgasket repair due to increased compression, which seems stupid to me since the engine is currently fine. The only other issues with the car is the Honda rust over the rear fenders and the torn up drivers seat, both of which are repairable. The rest of the car is almost mint. So what say you, Oh Oricale of the Acura? Should I go ahead and do it or sell it for $3k and put the money towards another car? Is this a good price or is it too much? and lastly, anyone know anybody in CT or the area that knows the car and is willing to do the service at a resonable price? Thanks!

Well since your asking here you already know what we are gonna say lol. But it boils down this! Do you think it's worth it? Lower end will not go after the topend is redone that's bs! Shop around for better prices and check their work as well.

Your right, I did know what you were going to say! :) How much is a reasonable charge to get the timing belt and the head gasket done? I was thinking of the 3.5 swap, but that would easily double the price, and Id like to keep it all original if I can. Id rather put the additional $2,500 into fixing the Honda rust and seat, then it would be mint. I drive it a hundred miles a day and am aiming to have it be one of those 400k mi. cars I keep reading about here!

Lol. Not sure on prices because they very from state to state. Here average price is around 1200 but I know a guy who do it for 700 if you have all the parts but that's here.

I am biased; I also have a '93 LS 6speed coupe. I would do the TB/WP
service and hope to pay someone around 1200-1500 dollars. However,
the car is 20 years old and the steering rack and ball joints may need
replacement in the future. if you are driving 100 miles daily at highway
speeds; you need a safe vehicle for a daily driver. As an alternative, I
would consider getting the TB/WP service and find A modest but new DD
for work. Use the Legend on weekends, or similar limited basis i.e., for fun.

I keep up on the maintenance of the car and recently had the front end done, I could use some shocks, but they are not that bad right now. I need to make sure its straight cause not only do I commute on the highway every day with it, its usually doing around 80MPH with frequent trips past 100. Ive decided to fix it, thanks for all you input!!

trust me the legend dont share many parts with anyother acuras or hondas and i mean very few! but thats a call you will have to make.

I understand that part that Legends have very few parts that it shares with other Hondas and Acuras, but you now got me confused. Educate me... I'm seeking knowlege. I'm hearing Legend owners swapping out their engines for RL3.5. How is that possible if I have a RL3.5 engine in my TL, that I can't use a Legend Transmission? I know for a fact that Legends and Acuras TL can share Intake Manifolds, Brake Calipers, Headers, and Strut bars.

your tl have a 3.5 rl motor in it? id love to see that! now with the 3.5 from a RL being swapped in a legend isnt a direct swap there 1 motor mount that has to be fabbed! your ecu would have to be custom chipped for one and i dont know of anyone who makes a chip for the tl andas i stated b4 the legend dont share many things with other hondas or acuras i didnt say they dont share anything. even swapping a auto legend over to a manual trans legend isnt a easy swap there parts that has to fab as well. now you can try it but if it was a easy swap trust me yous see a bunch of 6 spped swap rl's
