With 11to1 compresion the ECU keeps retards the timing using 93 octain, so I must add torulene (octain boost) I might advance the base line timing. With the added HP my tranney starting to go (MONEY PIT) this also hirts my ET.
 
As with any performance upgrade with the Legend. Engine management is the devil.

I had high hopes for the AEM "race unit". But they decided not to build it and concentrate on their plug and play units.

Until you gain control of ignition timing, injector pulse width etc, the Legend will be hamstrung.

I'm still saving up for the drive train upgrades that will go with the engine.

whats the point in getting higher compresion pistons when the closest thing to fuel managment is about 3000 away? Stick with low com. and NOS

I agree that 11:1 compression is too high, partly because the fuel required for high compression engines is hard to find. Furthermore, the additives used to convert pump gas for use in high compression engines are highly toxic.

Nevertheless, it is possible to increase the compression in Legend engines somewhat. Schuttrp went through the effort to have Ross manufacture pistons with the correct dimensions for our Legend engines. Using those dimensions, Ross can manufacture other pistons with somewhat lower compression. It would be a significant service to this forum if Schuttrp were to post his job ticket number from Ross, so that others could continue to experiment with different compressions.

In general, higher compression leads to greater efficiency. A compression of 10:1 might be about the best compromise between power and convenience: this compression ratio should not require fuel additives.
