Dang it... Can't display it! Anybody else have the problem? Don't think it is the Macromedia Flash Player. I'm using a last model IBM with latest upgrades. 12 minutes of Honda media. Sounds great!

I had an older version of flash so I updated mine from the link and then it worked for me.

You are correct, Sir! That much for my latest upgrades of the media software  It looked like their test vehicle was a Honda Accord. It also seemed that the rear end and stop lights were somewhat diffferent from the USDM version. I wish Honda would do something about the Accord rear end. The car is yet to grow on me but I think the rear end is plain hideous. Somehow on the video it didn't look that bad. Also wider tires seemed to contribute as well.

It will be neat to see how the SH-AWD perform udner real road conditions. I am yet to see an owner of the Prelude SH that swears it is invluable but maybe Honda imporoved it the second time around. I can see the sales associate's face when i show up at the dealership for a testdrive and say: "I would like to test the SH-AWD in the RL going 75mph on the highway ramp..." :) Thanks for the heads up. Good info!

Fortunately a somewhat friend of mine is one of the big salesman an our local dealer and he just happends to also be an awsome auto crosser (Both he and his wife finished 1-2 in their class with both their S2000's) and I have no doubt he would actually encourage you to drive it hard :D

I think it is a huge improvement from the SH on the Prelude simply because of the AWD. With the Prelude you can only transfer or manipulate torque between the two front wheels. With the SH-AWD you can transfer and manipulate torque between all 4 wheels. Did you see that part where it says it can send more torque to the rear wheels around a corner, but not only that it can send more of that torque bias to the outside rear wheel. What it sounds like is at any given point 3 wheels could have different torque ratings directed to them. It is also variable between front/rear and left right so if need be you can have more torque in the front wheels and left or right fronts as well. Anyway, it appears to be an awsome system. The only thing I'm wondering is how long does the clutch packs last?

well with carbon clutches (which hte system uses) they are able to slip with the type of fluid they have...plus carbon clutches have a property that when fully broken in make their own lubricant when they are slipped...weird but true.

That is because it no the honda accord, is the honda inspire!!! a little more up scale. The inspire use to be the TL brother for the last few years, but this year the 04 was mostly design by acura and only sold in the states.

Honda developed a very similar system in 1991, called DYC (Direct Yaw Control). Honda made a prototyped, but never develop the system for production, until the prelude in 96, but it only use a limited version that only worked for the front wheels. Honda argue that the system was too far complex and costly. Finally honda is going to release their prototype system developed over 10 years ago, but this time using electromagnetic clutches. :giggle:

Anticipated Car Magazine Response to the new 05' RL

The new 05' RL will have auto magazines in an absolute frenzy - They will describe, with an unheard of number of superlatives - that this, the 05' RL, is what defines the absolute in motoring style, grace, sophistication, performance and value! This car, ladies and gentlemen, has lines that will endure...and will simply blow everything, in it's class - straight to hell...

If the torque numbers come in over 270 - you will have an absolute "monster" on your hands - this car will be a classic!!!

now that's just awesome. Went through the corners perfectly without understeer or oversteer.

I wouldn't doubt it'll be in the next gen NSX either. Couple that with the SH-AWD and the IMA system, you have a monster right there :D

Electromagnetic clutch...Acceleration Device...
It would certainly be nice to know for certain that the SH-AWD system will be reliable for years and miles of driving "pleasure". The complexity of the system shown in the video concerns me. I can only hope that Honda has used the time that the RL was sleeping (1996-2004) wisely to make sure that their new system works but is reliable as well. My bet would be with them as they have a reputation for reliability.

I also have my doubts about the snow and wet handling. The new RL will still have to follow the laws of physics so I wouldn't count on the RL riding a snowy curve as if it were dry asphalt. Snow handling has a lot to do with the type and condition of your tires though.

The main thing I see as different with the SH-AWD is that being AWD it should silence critics of the FWD Acuras with their reported "torque-steer" when accelerating briskly. The SH-AWD should give Acura the ability to keep adding more HP to their cars without the torque steer issue increasing simultaneously. Right now folks compain of the FWD torque steer, RWD poor snow performance, and AWD weight issues. If Acura is able to keep the RL weight down there will be no negatives!! Looking forward to Acura announcing TORQUE and VEHICLE WEIGHT figures.
