FEELER: Custom Grill Inserts...

Anybody be interested in a pre-bent, grill insert for coupe's or sedan's? Possibly two choices of patterns, one is a hexagonal pattern (honeycomb) that has openings about 1/4 of an inch, and the other is a round hole with 1/4 inch openings. The round hole looks like Cole Austin's grill if you've seen it. Can get it in stainless or mild steel. The mild steel would need to be painted or powdercoated so it wouldn't rust...which I could do also.

How many people would be interested, and what would you be willing to pay for it? If I can cover my cost, I might be willing to get them done...

Let me know people! :werd:

I don't have the material yet, I just want to see if there is enough interest out there to cover my cost of purchasing it...

Here is a sample of the round hole:

Here is the hexagonal:

The round is 16 gauge, and the hex is 22 gauge so they should be flexible enough to mold if there is damage in transit, but still stiff enough to keep its shape over time.

It's one of those short antenna's that attach to your fender and tell you where the curb is...but only if you drive an early 80's Caddy.

-- OR --

An email, or thread, that is used to gauge the interest of other parties when a person is contemplating a purchase/sale that would involve other parties.

So would you be interested in a grill insert made from either of the materials shown in my above post?

Don't see why not. I just don't have access to a G1 grill to mold it. I could probably just sell you the material and you would have to bend it yourself, unless I could find a "donor" G1 in DFW that would let me make a template.

What would you be willing to pay for the material without being molded?

if i get it not bent can you kind of get me a DIY ond how to bend it it and how to mount it..... how much do you pay for the material
Yeah, I'm sure we could work something out if it's not pre-bent. As far as the price goes, I haven't purchased the material yet so I don't know. Obviously the more I buy, the better the deal. That's why I was trying to gauge interest before I made the purchase. I will probably just buy enough for a couple of grills and see how the final product will look, then use that to sell more of them. I'm not looking to make much off this deal, I just need to cover my cost so I can justify it to my unborn daughter! LOL!

I was hoping you would post that picture! It looks like the company I am dealing with has a ton of variations of that material, stainless, aluminum, and mild steel as well. I am going to get a sheet of the hexagonal design and fab up some grill samples for the G2 (sedan and coupe) and post pictures. Hopefully I can get that done next weekend. As far as the round hole design goes, if there is enough interest, I will buy a sheet of that and make some samples as well.

Let me know who's interested in which design and we'll go from there.

sample pic installed on my car. going to get it powdercoated after the holiday. anyway, here's what it looks like on a coupe. i can add the Acura emblem if you would prefer, but i think i will leave mine off for now. i'm guessing these could go for $15.00 each plus shipping in their raw state (non painted or powdercoated) and i will find out how much my buddy wants for powdercoating this weekend so you can have that option if you would prefer. i don't have the round hole design in, but if there's enough interest, i might order some of that too. get at me people. sorry the pictures are so bad...stupid rain. i'll try to get some more over the holiday weekend.

EDIT: Pics Removed

if you're interested, please pm me confirmation and i'll pm you back paypal info. i don't have a business account, so you will not be able to pay with credit cards.

Considering you stretched it over the A symbol on the grille, your material is defiently thinner than the stuff I was working with.

it looks allright, it needs to be polished or painted or something

Yeah, I'm getting it powdercoated this weekend to match my rims. Also, I hadn't decided if I wanted to keep the A symbol or not before I hacked the plastic seat down to make it fit straighter in the grill. I'll probably get it coated, then install the A symbol to see which way I like it and post some pic's of that.

Thanks for the feedback...and go get some sleep! LOL
