Anyone else experience this at all? I've been noticing lately that my legend just doesn't get the love it used to. Granted, its an old car, and starting to show its age, but it still nice even by todays standards. I used to receive compliments on my Legend all the time, whether I was at the gas pumps, cruising around, or popping into car dealers. Over the past couple years I've noticed a big decline in the amount I love my Legend gets. I used to go to Acura dealers, and sales people would come out and just admire my car, and compliment on how sweet of a car it is. Now it's always, "yeah, looks like its time for you to trade that old beast in for something nice and new." Or when people ask what type of car I drive, rather than the usual "Oh, Legend coupes are so nice!," Ive been hearing things like, "you drive and Acura? Is it new, or is it one of those crappy old Legends or something." I also notice it doesn't turn heads like it used to, unless its some 16 year old asian kid in a teg or something. I love my Legend, and always will, but one of the big things that made me love it was the amount of respect I used to get with it. Looks like I just have to get used to driving an old, ugly, crappy Acura.

Thats not a problem around here and other places i visit! Every since we started our club theres tons of new legends coming out the wood works! Don't say all you havent been looking for the cause we have! I'm always looking to buy another Legend and add new members to the club! Just dont let it get you down cause look around and say yea but how many you see when you pull up to a stop light or go out to eat tell them that the next time the say those things! Throw some wheels on it aftermarket!

not going to lie to you, your car is bland right now. i still got a good number of people eyeing my car a while back. I don't know about now, but you definitely need to get you game up if you still plan on it turning heads.

People that say "Old Crappy Acura Legends" have never been in one. Now that said, people do have a tendency to dismiss the G1s as "crappy old Legends" but G2s typically get love anytime someone says something about a Legend.

Maybe it's just were you are. Your sig said you work as a Jaguar/Infiniti/Land Rover sales guide (i figure to mean salesman?) If you're talking to Jaguar people and Infiniti people, you're liable to hear them trash talk Acura. I haven't met a Jaguar owner yet that hasn't trash talked all japanese brands, and some Infiniti owners seem to think that everything Infiniti is superior in quality, craftsmanship, and overall build quality than anything else.

I take serious down talk about the Legend with a grain of salt because most people who talk trash about it have never driven and/or ridden in one.

I was leaving a fish restaurant the other night. I went out to my Legend to wait for my brother. As he came out he started to open the door, stopped, then came outside with a small grin on his face. I asked him what just happened.

"That older lady sitting near the door just told me that we have a pretty sharp car."

A guy came into where I work last week, but right before hand was looking over my car and staring at my hood. Turns out he is a detailer and thought I had new paint. :giggle:

The Legend still gets respect.

As banged up as my legend is it still gets the eye, girls pull up next to me and look all inside. I didn't used to get that back in the day except when I first bought it. Had a girl ride by flashing her t*ts at me.

I went through this with my first Legacy. Everyone loved it then they all got newer cars than mine. So what did I do? Got a bright red one! You cant miss it. People often mistake my Legacy as being a newer model than it actually is. Which I believe it is the same way with the Legend.

throw some fresh paint and some aftermarket wheels on, then see how you feel
Well, I need $$ in order to get wheels, and anyone that's seen my car in person knows that it doesn't need fresh paint. I didn't start this thread with the intent of people busting on my car, I'm just saying that I personally don't think my Legend draws as much attention as it used to. I don't think its my cars fault, I think that with all of the new stuff on the market, a Legend coupe, as neat as it is, just doesn't impress people anymore. But, Ig uess thats to be expected in a 13 year old car. I'm just saying that my car used to get alot of attention, and it doesn't seem to draw it anymore.

ITs definently the rims, you need to get some rims, it add a whole new look. look into getting some TL's or something. cheap 2nd hand.

i get stares all the time, people breakin their neck when i dry by. i constinently see people looking down at the rims when they pass. legends are slick cars, you just have to accesorize well. get a hot pink paint job, thatll get some stares...haha

I have 99% of the work done on my Legend at the local dealer.

Shop Manager when my engine issues started "You are going to fix your Legend right? You just can't get cars like those type II's anymore.".

Salesman when he first saw that "Are you going to consign that with us? I might just buy it myself" He didn't know I had just bought it. LOL

And I always get people commenting on it everywhere I go.

Even when I purchased the new Minivan the salesman was sitting there drooling over it, with an '02 3.2RL sitting on there lot and he's drooling over a '95 GS. :)

I actaully had a customer ask me if I drove a Jaguar, and I told him that I drove an Acura, which he then followed with that exact phrase. Maybe he didn't mean that Legends were bad cars, just that they were old and many of them on the road are pretty beat.

I think it's the place you work at. The customers are snobs. :giggle:
